Hi Alan and thanks,
I will compile a short list of recommendations for those with limited or no prior experience in this.
I should be able to post it hear within the next few days.
PS: A bit bemused by wwonderfull's radical conversion on this - suddenly "all over it".

Re: published website security
Yes, as you say, there are some very skilled and anti-social hackers about, who are willing to exploit just about anything. And that fact is the very reason that as many of us as possible should try to hold them back by all available means. I am doing that myself and encouraging (not demanding ...

Re: published website security
You seem to deprecating good security practices; which makes very little sense to me. I think site owners should do whatever they reasonably can, within whatever constraints they have. Obviously, that is a big range of possibilities. Applying optimized safeguards to even a small, low risk site is ...

Re: published website security
Hello John, Glad to see you are working this. As you have seen, it's not a WWB issue but more a hosting thing. I have managed to achieve A+ results on both Mozilla Observatory and securityheaders.com. Not all sites can be made to do this, but I encourage you to keep at it. Mine was also very bad ...

Re: Navigating in a site, go back to previous site
Just adding; A good live example of what I mean can be seen on virtually any Wikipedia Article page. If you look at the "Contents" list box on the left, all the links have an added ID reference that allows you to jump directly to that section of the same page. For comparison: https://en.wikipedia ...

Re: Navigating in a site, go back to previous site
The easy way is to create a button and link to “SmartLink” to “Previous Page” or “Back” This could work, if the smartlink is to a specific URL subsection of the original page, and not just "Previous" or "Back". It would produce the following user experience: 1. You navigate to the first page ...

Line with Arrow Rendering
I have a logo that I am refining and trying to publish in SVG format for sharp scaling. The logo has some lines with "stealth" arrows at one end. These publish fine as PNG, but the arrows disappear when published as SVG. I'm guessing I should probably recreate the whole thing in a dedicated SVG ...

Re: Italic Font Rendering (Smooth vs. Jagged)
Thanks Pablo, I fully agree that this is a client-side browser rendering issue. As best I can tell, turning on the "Clear Type" feature in the Windows OS may have been what cleaned up the rendering for me. Seems like Microsoft should have that enabled by default. It's interesting that several ...

I'm pretty sure this is not a WWB problem, but this seemed like the right place to find and explanation. I use the following font in a logo for my site. Text popup on mouseover
Hello all,
This is probably simple, but I'm just not seeing it.
I would like for a text box to popup on mouseover to expand on a topic (much like it happens on Wikipedia pages).
Any guidance on best practice for this is appreciated.

DB

This seems to be a Javascript problem, but not one caused by WWB. I have a carefully crafted and quite strict "Content Security Policy" on both my test server and public server. Re: Text alignment on mobile page.
Okay; After much trial and error, I found something that works. I put my bulleted list into a "Text Art" box. One last thought.
Maybe the list created by - Tools>Verify Links - could be helpful?
Later:
After a closer look, I see that my suggestion shows external links (and some but not all internal links).
Since your question seems to pertain to internal links, this may not be adequate.

Hello all, It seems like a good situation in which to apply a 301 redirect. With that, you can directly refer anyone clicking the "stale" remote link to whatever part of the website you wish. This will work without having to know where the referring link is located. I hope I have properly understood ...
