MP3 links

Post by cdtenor »

Previously using version 11, I had a number of music files on my website, which I simply linked to files on my computer. I have just upgraded to Web builder 15, and these links don't appear to be working. If there a new way of linking music files to be played in a separate music player? If so, how?

The behavior of links has not changed.

Maybe the files are not in the right location?
Or maybe the filenames are invalid (not websafe)?

Can you please talk me through exactly what I have to do to link to MP3s. (where the files need to be, and what boxes I link etc.) NONE of my previous links work.

Neither of the links you sent me, help me with my problem of linking to MP3s. What I'm doing is linking to a 'file' and clicking 'open in pop up window'. I also have the problem, that when I save my website on WYSIWYG the settings don't get saved. Each time at least 1 of my music files gets changed to 'External Website'. What am I doing wrong? and could this be anything to do with the fact that I have upgraded from Version 11 to Version 15, without going via 14?

You cannot open a mp3 file in a popup, only pages can be opened in a popup. The default behavior of a browser is to open the audio file in the default audio player.

If you link to a mp3 file thne click this link should open the browser's media player. This may be a different player for each browser.
This functionality is implemented in the browser, not in WWB
If this does not work for you then either the filename is invalid or the browser is not correctly configured.

Tip: if you need help then please include the URL of the page so we can see what you have done.

The target should be 'open in the same browser window', because you cannot control what happens when you click an audio file. This is browser functionality.

Note that the filenames of your audio files are not websafe. Spaces are not valid.
