Icon font

Post by crispy68 »

Having an issue with seeing all of the Open Iconic fonts.

When I select that library and click on select icon, I get nothing but rectangles. I can hover over them and see what each are and select it. It does show up in the workspace then and previews correctly. Just not sure why I cant see all the icons in the list. All the other icon fonts work fine.

I've removed the folder from the system folder and did a fresh install and that didnt fix it.

Any ideas on what to try?

Usually this is related to permissions.
Does it work when you install the TTF file of Open Iconic manually?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean but I removed the Open Iconic folder from the iconlibraries folder. I then re-created the folder "Open Iconic" and placed just the .ttf file in the folder. When viewed in WB it shows the alphabet (small, capitals, numbers). I then continued to add each file in the folder 1 by 1. Nothing changed until the .json file was added. At that point, it reverted back to the same issue. Nothing but rectangles.

As a note, I opened up WB14 and it works correctly. It's only in WB15 I'm having the issue.

I still think it's related to permissions.
Did you install the font with the same user credentials as WWB?

The setup of the font should add the ttf to your Windows fonts (all users). If that fails for some reason then the UI cannot render the font.
The workspace uses direct2d so it uses it's own font management.

Hey Pablo,

Ok, I tried installing the .ttf font and it installed BUT it has a name of 'Icons' and shows as a 'Untitled1 (TrueType)' font.

Here is what I see when I double click to install a font:

Image

You can see at the top it says Untitled1 (TrueType) and the font name is Icons not Open Iconic. It doesnt show the icons in the preview but just text. With the other fonts, I see the icons.

When I run the .exe file from WB to install the fonts, this is how it looks in the registry:

This looks correct and looks like all the other iconfonts.

When I open my 'fonts' files in windows, this is what I see when I search for 'Icons'

Image

As you can see, the icons do appear but the name is incorrect.

When I click on Icons, this is what I see:

You will see that the Full name = Untitled1 and the icons above are rectangles.

I am aware that the font registers as 'Untitled1 ', this is a issue of the (third party) font.
However, it works correct for me. So, that is why I decided to release it as add-on.

But maybe I should remove from the website it to prevent further confusion?

Pablo,

I would leave it. It apparently works fine in WB14 so others may be using it. Not sure if others have gotten it to work in WB15 or not. It's not that it is unusable it's just you cant see the icons at the point you are choosing them. It does appear in the workspace and when previewed.
