Table of Contents Generator (toc generator)

Post by suflex »

Here's the download page https://github.com/gfranko/jquery.tocif ... all/master

Here's the demo page - http://gregfranko.com/jquery.tocify.js?Description

Description:

Tocify generates a table of contents for a page based on the h1-h6 tags. The table floats at the top left corner and can be clicked anytime to jump around the page to various sections. Also, when the user scrolls to any section, the corresponding toc link will be highlighted. Tocify also shows multiple levels of hiearchy (eg section, subsection) using indents in the table of contents.

It'd be great to allow let the user control where the toc shows up, and to allow a second navigation option on the right hand side with the buttons (go to top, previous section, next section, go to bottom). This would float somewhere in the middle beside the scroll bar.

Thanks.

Re: SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT

Post by [RZ] »

thank you for considering me!
usually i don't take third party code. i'm currently working in a third party flash based object and it is a pain in the well known part of the body...
besides this, the nice blurred options panels don't work in ie8 and earlier (unfortunately, a lot of people still using ie8), and in ie9 looks really bad. (at least at my end.)
thanks again.

Check this out http://www.kansascity.com/2012/12/06/v- ... edges.html

The photo on the left is replaced by text as the page is scrolled, this is not a usual roll over text effect.

Shalom, Rabbi.

I am always impressed by your helpfulness.
You had also suggested this extension in the past for an effect similar to this link http://www.loksatta.com/mumbai-news/mum ... bed-25207/ Right Hand bottom where an object with related links slides in.
However, I have not really been able to work them. Neither this effect for which you have referred this extension now, nor the effect I had asked previously.
The fault could be entirely mine as I am unfamiliar with programming and code, and can only work 'touchy feely' ie, with a KISS interface which does not challenge my non-existent programming knowledge.
Thanks.

if you download the suggested extension, you will see the sample project included.
take a deeper look at the sample, it is simple and it's explained by itself.
pity you didn't post your questions in the extension thread so either i or another 'fan member' could have help you.

Re: Mobile-Oriented, Mobile-Friendly Extensions

Post by OzarkWebSolutions »

I would like to see a series of extensions that are mobile oriented. My top priority would be Google maps for mobile. I can't understand the Google map site well enough to point to a script, perhaps there isn't one, I just don't know.

Here is one problem I am running into. Setting my mobile site width at 600px, I find that some extensions don't work at that width. Additionally, I find that some don't work as objects in mobile-sized slider windows, carousels.

Thanks for thinking about this.

I would like to see a postcard script. This would be very useful to us in marketing our national park. Seems like a good strategy for viral marketing.

Typo 3 apparently has this script embedded in it.

you should tweak the code to bypass some browsers validations, i.e. chrome, as it is reported as not supported by openwysiwyg... just my cent here

Yes, I have used it many times to create and store in the database HTML messages. BUT, the built in form processor sends plain text emails, so it is useless.

You might try using it in combination with the DBTS Form Processor (although I have never tried it).

Re: SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT

Post by JimmyJazz »

I am looking to create an XML image site map to upload into my webmaster Google account.

Currently Web Builder only generates an XML site map for URL's

I've just upgraded to Web Builder V8 and I can see when I import my website that about 50% of my 5000+ images have an incorrect filename (with spaces instead of hyphen or dash). I will batch change all of these to replace the space with a hyphen, but, when I re-upload these images the original file names that were indexed by Google will be lost, thus hurting my SEO (I am not creating 301 re-directs for that many images  )

My main motivation for wanting an image sitemap is to focus Google imageBot on the important images to be indexed after I make this change in an attempt to limit negative SEO

However.....

After reading Google guidelines:
http://support.google.com/webmasters/bi ... wer=178636
plus also doing a lot more research I realise submitting an image sitemap will have a very positive effect on my sites SEO (especially if <image:caption>, <image:geo_location> & <image:title> can be included as per Google specifications

Looking online for a solution I found this site:
http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/standalone- ... rator.html
But in order to get the image sitemap generator you have to buy the sitemap generator.

I would much rather pay that money to someone in this community to create this extension.

I need the extension fully functional by Feb 14th.

Suggestion:

2 extensions could be built with the first only including: <image:image> & <image:loc> (these are the minimum requirements) this could be offered as a free extension
The second extension would be paid & include <image:caption>, <image:geo_location> & <image:title> as well as the minimum requirements in the free extension

The above link to Google guidelines contains example code

It would be the second extension in my above suggestion I require for the extra SEO boost it would deliver

Anyone interested please let me know.

Jimmy,
Please note extension developers develop extensions as a hobby and as a service to the WB community. You have suggested something and its upto the extension developers to respond or not depending upon their free time. Sometimes they may have already started working on an extension and still may not respond here.
Please be patient.

@ JimmyJazz I dont think it the lack of Interest, it more to do with making one free and one paid. From my understanding you cannot take "Google" code and sell it on for profit, this contervens there terms of use as you are required to "Buy" or "Pay" for a licence to disterbute, and as this is costly it would simply not make sence to, as it would out weight what you would need to charge and what you would get in retrurn.

Re: SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT

Post by JimmyJazz »

Hi me.prosenejeet,

I did not intend to come across as impatient, I was merely trying to gauge if anyone was actually interested in developing this.

@ baconfries,

Actually that never even crossed my mind about licencing etc......

Since the release of the new software it kind of focussed my mind on the fact that so many images on my site had incorrect file names, I kind of thought if this were happening to me then there may be others with the same problem.

I suppose I wanted people to realise that I would be prepared to pay for such an extension, but, it appears that a free extension would be the only solution given the licencing constraints.

I did not post on here expecting anything, but, this forum is all about suggesting ideas, so......

1) I believe that this can already be done you can set up your WordPress site to publish the last five posts to RSS, then use a RSS reader control to consume that RSS feed in your web page. For more help regarding the RSS reader in WB please read from Help for how to set any settings related to WP please consult there own help.

2) I think that such an extension is limited to designers who are based in the USA as MSL listings are only used there so it is only useful to a minority of users but maybe if made as a paid for extension it have its use for those who require it

3) Have you looked in the extension index or extension manager I believe there is already a PHP listing extension available. Note anything like like will usually require some sort of database whether it is MySQL or even a simple use of MS Acess to pull and store the data needed.

Is it the Menu or is it the Page or what is it?

Post by amrajadhyaksha »

Please take a look at this http://www.businessweek.com/articles/20 ... rtunity#p1
Please scroll down the page.
As you scroll down, you see that the page seems to be swallowed up.
Not only the menu remains stationary, the content as it passes up just seems to disappear into the menu.
Of course the menu is also a lovely mega menu.

What is this and can it be done with WWB 8?

I think this is planned for WB9 so it won't be for some time yet, but I stand to be corrected. As a alternative you could take a look at the highslide multi YouTube extension or the YouTube multiplayer by doc doc.

You can do this with http://www.instantcal.com/. For an example, go to http://www.interiorhorsecouncil.com/index.html
and click on any bolded date in the mini-calendar. It's not an extension but is easy to add with a few lines of generated html code. Click on the samples page and then click on any of the items to see the generated html code.

Re: SUGGEST FOR EXTENSION DEVELOPMENT - more online editors

Post by IceTater »

I've written no extensions yet but see suggestions from time-to-time, for additional editor plugins. I ran across this site (Sept 2012) that listed several editors I'd never hear of: http://www.jquery4u.com/plugins/html5-wysiwyg/

Maybe someone who's written an editor extension would be interested in one or more of those.

@amrajadhyaksha Nice but we can only make extensions from scripts that are "Freely" availabl to download and use. We simply cannot scrape code from another sites HTML and make extensions from them, as it is stealing, and will break copyright infringment of the site.
