[rz] iRetina (magnifying glass) *** UPD 2017-Sep-24 ***

Post by [RZ] »

[rz] iRetina v1.2

This extension allows you to show the standard images with the retina effect like in iPhones.

DEMO

HTML 4.01 Transitional
W3C compliant

* New in version 1.2

- Optional fade-out effect of the element when the magnifying glass is activated.
- Custom color and intensity for the fade-out effect.

* New in version 1.1.1

- Fixed a Firefox 52+ "onmouseover" unstable behavior.
- Fixed an unstable behavior using images within table-cells with borders.

* New in version 1.1

- Removed deprecated properties and simplified organization.
- New 'auto' and 'onclick' open glass modes.
- Improved behavior on touch devices.
- Improved support for [rz] Preloaded Links.
- Fixed an introduced events collision on Chrome and Safari on quick movements.
- Fixed an onfocus distortion when the target image has a link.
- Fixed a misplacing on scrolled touch screens.

* New in version 1.0.2

- New core to workaround Chrome bugs handling the mouse and elements relocation.
- Touch support.
- Auto fade-in (no need to setup any extra value).

Notes about touch support:

- First tap on the image: the magnifying glass will be opened.
- Further taps on the image: the magnifying glass will be relocated.
- Tap on the glass: if a link or an event exists, it is followed.
- Tap anywhere else: the magnifying glass will be closed.

* New in version 1.0.1

- Added RWD support.
- Fixed a sporadic issue in Chrome when handling some hidden images.
- Added customizable fade effect for a smoother behavior.
- Unobtrusive internal events handling that allows the image to have its own events.

How to use?

1. Drag and drop all the images you want.
2. Resize them (please note: reduce them proportionally and don't resample!).
3. Add the [rz] iRetina extension.
4. Enter the images IDs (comma-separated) you want to add the effect.
5. Set-up just a few parameters or leave them all as by default.
6. Preview or publish (and move the mouse over the image).

Enjoy!

I am trying to use it on the Carousel with images on each slide. I have named the IDs of the image in the extension and kept the extension out side the carousel area. The zoom works fine in Firefox but there is no zoom in IE9 and Chrome. However, when I check your demo on IE9 and Chrome, zoom shows....something wrong I am doing? Page set to HTML 4.1 Trans and Internet Explorer compatability is IE9

@herbert
thank you for your links.
in the first link you applied "resample" after the effects (like shadow).
as stated in the "how to use" lines, you need to reduce proportionally your image and not apply resample nor other effects.
in the second link, yes, is working fine, but if you reduce a bit more the image, you will be able to see a better effect.

i didn't mean you must change the pictures; don't worry, you can use the existing ones!
just remove the effects and make minor size adjustments. that's all.
anyhow, thanks for your interest in this extension. if you need further assistance, just let me know.

@morgan
thanks for your interest in my extension and for your so positive feedback.
please open a thread and ask for feedback <there>, if my extension stops working for some reason, *I* will try to do my best to solve any issue you report <here>.
this topic is for feedback regarding my extension and not for 3rd parties' developments.
just for your information, all my extensions are stressed in as many environments as possible so as to assure compatibility and an acceptable performance and quality.
thanks in advance for your understanding.

hallo RZ
I very much like your extension Retina but within my project website the content of the magnifying glass captures one part of the image and then it freezes.
I have tried several images. Every time it's freezing. Is Retina compatible with WWB 9?

hello
as far as i tested, yes
however, i need to investigate a minor unstable issue with v9; sometimes it appears and sometimes not
the freeze that you are referring to i cannot reproduce it all the times, and at my end is for just a few seconds until the code gets the control -- the test that i did was with many objects in the page, and will try to find out where the conflict is, the online demo uses advanced layers and runs with no glitches
anyhow, i will try my best to improve the code as soon as i can (hope within this week)
thanks for your report and btw for your feedback

Hi, I like this Extension, but after update to WB9 I don`t see this in extension in Extension manager.
When I remove this from folder, download again and copy to extension directory, the situation is the same.

Re: Retina (a magnifying glass similar to apple's effect)

Post by [RZ] »

i'm sorry, your issue is unrelated to the extension; i tested it and works fine at my end
you should ask for support in the proper section as the cause may be related to the number of installed extensions, license, cpu resources, etc, etc...
hope you can soon solve this issue
with regards and thank you for your feedback and your interest in this extension
