how do I...

Post by crownfield »

I got the program yesterday, and built my first site.
this program is the answer to a two year search, and seems to have a few quirks, but
far and away, it is better than any of the other 5 or 10 programs I tried.
it makes w**d p***s seem retarded.

I think that as I learn how the components work,
my sites will advance in how they look and how they work.

I would like to create a tabbed page,
where the tab determines the text block on the page.
"click on tab 2 and see block 2" with the tabs staying visible.

I don't know where to start.

ideas very much appreciated?

Did you try the 'Tab' object?
Or else you can use a Carousel controlled by links to implement tab like behavior.

the tab seemed to be the first part of the answer.
but I want them to stay visible,
while the chosen text block shows on the same page.

what should hold the text?
layers, frames,?

What is the exact problem with the tabs widget?

simple.

I want a box of text to appear on the same sheet,
in response to the tab click event.
click another tab, and the text will change.

what the tabs can do is not clear.

it probably will do it,
but I don't know how to do it.

in my Delphi RAD, I also have tabs, each of which has a tabsheet.
i put text images and controls on each tabsheet.

when I run the program, and click on a tab, I see that tabsheet.
tabs might be create new, edit, browse.
each has the proper sheet.

1. Add the 'Tabs' object to the page
2. Drop objects on the tab panels
3. To switch between tab panels click the tabs.

This template uses tabs in a flexible layout:

added the tab
created several horizontal tabs.
added content to the pages

in the program,
tabs are horizontal and change the tabs content.
looks like it works the way I want. perfect!

publish it.

fail, in three different browsers.

it does not look like the program did.
the tabs seem to be vertical on the left,
and are behind the tab contents,
which are all overlayed on top of each other.

something I need to do is not clear to me.

why are the tabs not horizontal?
why do the tab contents all show all the time?
I would attach a screen capture, but it does not seem to be an option.

Found it!!!

the problems were being caused by my publishing only the changed page.

I went back and published the whole site,
and everything works.

thanks for your patience and help,
and for the only program
that understood what F***on could do,
and does it way better!!!
