content place holder resize width floating mode

Hi there
Im using content place holder with layout grid in the master page.
If Content p.h. overflow is not "floating" mode option ; I see that other options layout grid alignment break!

For example i want to use page with 1250px and
Content p.h. 500px but its not possible.i dont resize content p.h.
Is it possible resize ? (idont want full horizontal size with layout grid)

i searched site for this issue,ididnt see

The content place holder must be floating, the other options can only be used with fixed/absolute layout.

Can we change full width on the floating mode?
When i choose floating mode content p.h. changing full horizontal width
