text over picture not transparent

Post by Tahtohnkah »

I've never seen this with any of the many editors I've used over the years. So, this has me a bit baffled. It's a simple enough operation. I place a picture, move it to the back, place a text box (enter the text) move it to the front. I drag the text box over the picture and am supposed to have an overlay (saying this is common procedure is an epic understatement.) I have a dark picture, and white text, the text should pop out all nice and white. Instead, I get white stripes with no apparent text as though each line has its own white background, (but not the text box itself) - a background I never assigned, by the way.

I can't see how this hasn't been brought to anyone's attention before, so I'm assuming somewhere in this forum is a post that deals with this. However, I have no idea how to label this, or what to call it, or what subject line would be used to identify it. So, I'm posting this as a new subject. I also must say, having twenty years experience using html editors and website builders, and having never seen this even remotely happen before, I'm not asking, "What am I doing wrong?" I am asking, however, how to get this solved.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I cannot reproduce this problem based on your description, also no one else has ever reported this behavior.
Do you have a demo project (wbs) so I can see all your settings?

That should do it. Let me know if it's insufficient.

Thanks for the project.
However, where in the project do I need to look to see the problem?
Also, can you please include the images?

This contains all the graphics I've used so far.
https://www.cambio.net/freestyle.zip

I couldn't begin to tell you where to look. All I know is, I open a text box, paste in text and it appears in the browser as white strips. I'm surmising its white text with a white background. However, the background is for just the text, and not the text box itself. To ensure I'm not using pre-formatted text, I always paste text into an open Notebook.exe file, then copy it from there to enter it into text boxes. So, the idea it's happening due to user method seems rather farfetched.

As I said in the OP I've been creating html pages from editors since 1996. I know the various ins and outs. I'm proficient at using word processor software and graphics editing software, as well. However, I'm an author and designer. I don't write code. That's why I selected your software to use currently.

I guess I should add, I don't save the faulty output, so in my saved material you won't find an example of it. If you wish me to recreate a file containing the error, I'd be more than happy to get to that early next week.

If your project does not contain the error then unfortunately it will not be of any use for me.
I need to see the error to say anything meaning about this.

No one else has every reported this issue before (as you can see on this forum), so to able to help you I need more information from you.
What are the exact steps to reproduce this problem?
Do you have the same problem if you do not copy/paste text, but enter the text directly into a new text object?
Do you have a project which demonstrates the error?

mmkay. Wwonderful's "reset background" suggestion worked. (Thanks)

Pablo: I'll try to cause this to happen again in a more simplified file set-up and get that to you.
Thanks for your effort and kind attention.
