Image appearing as website logo when posted in messaging apps

Post by Makintosh »

Hi! I get this weird image when posting www.dpiparts.com in messaging apps. An image with "BPC" in it appear as if it's the website's logo. It is one of the images used in a Slide Show and not the official logo. I did not set it as such and don't have a clue how to remove it.

Whenever I post links in Facebook from my site it invariably picks an image that I don't want. It can sometimes even be from a different page to the one I am posting. I think it's purely the "messaging apps" fault but I may be wrong. I usually delete their image and post one of my own. I realise that may not be possible with every platform but it seems to works with Facebook. If there is a general fix I'd love to know it too.

To control what is seen (ie Facebook) you need to use open graph tags on your page.
If you want to see what Facebook is actually pulling and showing, use their site scraper/debugger here: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

@Chris_T
May I know how exactly you delete the image and replace with your own? I also get the same issue using Viber and in all other posts that seem to show a preview of the website address link .

@crispy68
Thanks for the tip. I'll edit the open graph tags and see what happens.

UPDATE!!!
Editing the open graph tags as suggested by crispy68 worked.
