I Frame unable to IFrame a website by Weebly

Post by WebsiteYETcom »

I can't get a web address of http://strumwi.com to work / display in an I Frame.

Site is made at Weebly.

StrumWI.com is a village website.

Maybe you will need to use https instead of http?

Usually, you can view the reason why it fails in the browser's error console.

When I try to visit the url I get a warning that the site is not secure as it does not support https. This could explain why it cannot be displayed in a iframe.

I just tried a new blank page, and inserted an inline frame. In the General section, I selected External Web address, and inserted "http://www.strumwi.com/" ...

Works fine for me.

Well, I found a list of sites made with Weebly.
I added two of the http ... Unsecured URL's in my iframe and uploaded it to my site, and both fail to display.
I added two of the https ... Secured URL's and both worked.
Also have 6 other local https URL's that work on my site.

With setting external web address in IFrame, the URL will show in preview, but after upload, does not display on my site. Secure and unsecure URL's will work in preview, but only https URL's work for me after upload to site.

MGD4me, Check again, did you get Unsecure ... StrumWI.com work after upload ? Or just in preview ?

So, http displays in wysiwyg preview, but fails on line, what causes the fail ?
I am using Brave Browser.

Only Preview...

Now that's strange... If I use an external link with a https URL, it works both in preview mode, and after being published online.

BUT, an external URL with HTTP only (unsecured website), it works in preview mode, but I only see the border of the inline frame, the contents are blank!

Sorry that I didn't actually publish my first test, but I see what you mean now. But I don't have an answer. Perhaps someone else can jump in here, but at least I can confirm what you are seeing, if that helps.

This is a security restriction of the browser.
Note tat this has nothing to do with WWB. The inline frame functionality is implemented in the browser.

There are a few workarounds, but they may affect the security of your website:
