font missing despite not using that font.

Post by Hbrownell »

Hey folks, starting a new thread for this one. My site doesn't use 'Times Roman' font, yet the error keeps popping up. I isolated a single page from the site and uploaded it here;
https://henrisandbox.com/files/test.zip

Error:
contactText1 'Times Roman'font is missing. The object uses a font which is not installed on this system.

Note, I just tried to re-open the "test" page I sent you and the error doesn't show.. grr.. okay, I'll sending another version. The page I'm looking at is the "contact" page.

Thanks again. Y'all are awesome!

Not an expert at this and I haven't checked out your file, however, maybe you have an empty space in a text object that is Times New Roman? Did you select all texts to set all characters to the desired font?

The font 'times roman' is used several times in the project.
You may have copied the text from another editor, so it contains invalid formatting.
The quickest way to replace the font for all object is by using 'Global Replace' in the Tools menu.

I tried the Global Replace several times, but nothing seems to take.

I've copied and pasted without formatting, but it still shows the error.

I think this is related to the invalid formatting of some objects.
For example, text6 in page art_jpn1stv uses 'times roman'

To solve this
open the text object
select all text
select a different font.

There may be others, but it for me it would also take a lot of time to find them all.

Am i being silly …. Wouldn't it be easier to just install the missing font on your system ? …. Or is it a brower issue…….

I tried that, still shows the error.
In that case, there are more objects with a use the font.

I have opened every page (no easy task) checked all the text and kept selecting the right font. The error still shows up. I'd be happy to re-install the font, but the one it's calling or I don't seem to have anymore. I thought it was something that came with Windows. I've even tried finding other fonts with the same name, but it doesn't seem to recognize it.

Pablo, when you found the font being used, how did you identify that the error existed? Is the page error tool the only way?

Here is what I did:
- open the page: art_jpn1stv
- open the text object: text6
- select all text
- select a different font -> Arial

For me, the 'times roman' error is now gone.

Note that 'times roman' is not a standard Windows font, so it may have been part of other software which you have uninstalled.

Well, I was able to find the font and re-load it. While I don't have the error anymore, I'm still wary about this issue..
