Text suddenly has white background

Post by teterpi »

I don't know what I am doing different, but now all my text boxes are coming up with a white background or whatever color is selected to highlight text. There doesn't seem to be a transparency option. Before this, other pages' text boxes were copied and pasted but came in as transparent. For now, I'm selecting the highlight to be the same as the background in the layout grid. Well that didn't work, everything around the text is white now even though the background on the layout grid is the right color. I tried restarting the app and starting with a new blank page where the text comes up with transparent background.

Well, FYI, I finally narrowed it down to a copy and paste from Word which usually works pretty good. So I pasted all the text into a new Word file, copied to the new text box file and now it's coming up with a transparent background. On the previous word file I checked all the formatting and there was nothing but bold and underlines. Having worked at Microsoft and used their products since about 1985, this seems pretty typical. I still couldn't figure out how to eliminate the white highlights in wbs.

It is not recommended to copy text from word and paste into WB. It can contain additional formatting that you don't want which is most likely the issue you are having. I would suggest doing one of the following:

1. Copy the text from word into notepad and then copy it from notepad into WB. This will eliminate all formatting so you can then format it in WB.
2. Copy the text, hold down the SHIFT key while pasting text in text edit mode. This will paste the text without formatting.

Yes, thank you, the problem did narrow down to that. The other problem, which could help some users, is that there were other things laid our underneath the layout grid and text box that I must have inserted, but didn't know they were there - blue dotted lines in some sort of grid. So I started a new page from scratch and that seemed to eliminate the problem. I'm having good success with copying and pasting to retain bold and underlines, and then do additional formatting once it's pasted. Sometimes the line breaks aren't there or I have to go through a document and check all the line spacing. I will say I'm very happy with how it's coming out with Web Builder now that I've learned the basic program.
