Reponsive Background Video

Post by Starduck »

Hello, I am new to WYSIWYG Web Builder but I've been watching some tutorials, following the written ones on the website page and so far I am loving this tool. But I am a little confused about the overall structure of responsive media on the program. I am building a website and I would love to have a responsive video on my hero banner page where it plays automatically and loops. I'm using a Flex Grid to build each section and I love the freedom and the structure if gives, but only the Layout Grid gives me the possibility to work with background videos and I don't like them for this current project. Anyways, is it possible to have an embedded video that plays automatically from load in my Flex Grid? Could also be on a Flex Container, but I would like to learn how to work with responsive media (image and video) that scales accordingly to the page based on full width or height.

I hope I was clear, if not please ask me anything that would make a solution offer easier.

Cheers WWB Lads!

Sorry, flex grids do not support background video.
But you can try the YouTube or Video object and enable 'fill entire browser window'.

So, I did this, but I ran into some issues I'm not sure how to proceed:

My video is a 1:1 aspect ratio video, I selected "Custom", but I'm not sure why it keeps displaying a background and using it for size calculation of one of the three options available: 4:3 / 16:9 / 9:16. Am I missing something to activate the "custom" property?

Other problem I run into: Even thought I check "autoplay" it still is not playing automatically.

I really wish the "properties window" would allow for all objects to be resized to whatever size I want and also let me choose between the various measuring units. Like, if we could change the size to "100%", or "100vh" or "100wh", "100px" all getting into the CSS itself.

I am sorry if I am saying some nonsense, but I am new to WYSIWYG and I see a lot of potential but I keep stumbling upon restrictions that I don't understand why they exist since it's relatively easy to fix but I can't find the code to edit and the options are not there in the properties to mess with. I tried "Embedded Media", "Video", I tried the layout grid bacrground and none of them behave properly on scalling alongside the page.

If the video does not auto play then it probably has audio? In that case, the browser will block it.
The aspect ratio options are for flexible web design, they do not apply to the background video.
