Fix "not web-safe" filenames?

Post by SteveMann »

I am moving a website to a new host, and when publishing, I get almost 200 "is not a web-safe filename!" warnings.
The files are all images and have a space character in the filename. It is easy to rename the files on the PC using a file renamer program. Is there a fast way to fix the filenames in the site other than
one
at
a
time?

Thanks

You can use the asset manger to update image without have to open all the properties.
But you will still need to do this one object at a time.

I had to rename about 120,000 files And used Directory Opus 12.

they have an option to make all the files your working on WEB Safe.

I realize this option may not help you.

Thanks for the Opus tip. My Explorer has been acting up and I am looking at replacements. But, my problem isn't the Windows filenames. It's pretty easy to do a bulk rename there. My problem is having to change the filenames in the web site. One at a time.

Can't you just republish them all using the corrected filenames?
Then delete the old ones.

How?
Pablo said to use the asset manger to update image without have to open all the properties.
But still one object at a time.

If you can think of a better way, please tell me.

I assume you have all the filenames corrected in Windows and in the wwb project.
If so, then use "Publish all files".
Or am I missing something!

The bolded bit is, I think, the issue.

I can't see the problem
I then get hundreds of "file not found" warnings.
If I publish a gallery, then your method works.

That's what I meant by "Publish all files".
