Opening a Quick 'n Easy 7 Project in WWB 18

Post by DaxEternally »

Hi, I have had QEWB7 for a long while and built my website with it. I'm a windows 10Pro user.
I felt that I needed to update, to get some of the new items and programming, and since I didn't think I'd ever use Linux or Mac, that I'd switch over to WWB, as it seemed to be updated more often and have more things in line with what I'm doing.

But, now I can't figure out how to open the old QEWB7 file in the new WWB18?
Please tell me I didn't waste a bunch of money! lol

I had thought that being newer it would open the file, especially as it said it was backwards compatible with older files, and I knew that both programs were by the same company.

So, how might I do this? There doesn't seem to be a way to save the project file in any other format to import to WWB, the way there apparently is to go the other direction.
Thank you for any help,

When this is said it was meant that it was backwards with previous versions of WWB files (.wbs) and not files from Q'n'E.
Q'n'E is a separate application which uses its own document format so they are not interchangeable. With this said you can "export" projects from WWB to QWB format using the 'save as' menu. The same applies to extensions you cannot use extensions made for Q'n'E in WWB and vice versus due to each have there own file format and not compatible for each

I need to go the other direction, FROM Quick n Easy TO WWB and I can't find a way to save or export to do that. Is there a save menu that I'm missing?

Edit: Otherwise I'm going to need to return WWB and upgrade Q'nE instead.

Please read my post again it is not possible due to each program having it own format and not interchangeable.
See the following reading from Note that this is a different product....

WWB has more features I believe and it has been around longer. I think you can't 'return' it, but if you ordered within the last few days you are eligible for a free update to WWB 19 which has an amazing feature set. Consider using that?

Those were all reasons I was looking to switch...
But, I was also looking to use my previous QEWB project so as not to have to redo 40+ pages from scratch (it's a professional cover art creation/design page, so lots of pages and lots of pictures. And it took MONTHS to figure out QEWB to get what I wanted.)

I'm very sad. And yes, it's my own fault for not checking out the free demo. I assumed/partly mis-understood, that if there was a Save/Convert going one direction, that there would be one going the other direction, too. Silly me.

Maybe some time after Christmas I'll have time to sit down and re-create everthing.

Thank you to everyone for the answers.

Not all may be lost did you read the following url below Q'n'E is now at version 10 and has many 'New' features over your version. Perhaps Pablo will be able to swap licences so you don't lose out or have to rebuild all your pages. As it is late European time and Pablo is not awake and will read this tomorrow and will reply himself on this.
Quick 'n Easy Web Builder 10

Some information to read from version 7 to 8 there was 150 updates
viewtopic.php?t=90575
from 8 to 9 there was 99
viewtopic.php?t=94123
and from 9 to 10 there was 125
viewtopic.php?t=96553
As you can see Q'n'E has has had many updates from your version so it may still be of value to update to version 10 so not to have to redo your site....its late here in the UK and I will read Pablos reply tomorrow.

Thank you, again. I have also written support. So, I guess I'll wait and see what shakes out. It was my own fault, so I don't hold him liable, at all. And this is a more active forum and seems to have better support. I've done a lot of searching on the other forum, it is more geared to Linux and Mac. So, likely I'd be better off here, anyway.

Maybe I can do some kind of copy/paste from one to the other, maybe not.
