Post by zigleon »

Latest hotfix installed.

Crashes everytime I attempt to modify H1 Headings....so I can't customise them.

I am using Windows 7...

Any advice or workaround?

Thanks.

To be able to help you, I need a DEMO project (.wbs file) so I can see all your settings.
Also, please include a description how to reproduce this problem.

I do not need the complete project because that will only take more time to figure out what you have done.
Basically, I just need a small project with one page and object(s) that are relevant to your question.

For further details about how to share a project file, please see this FAQ:

Thanks for you reply.
Don't think this is a project issue.

Just opened a brand new completely blank project to test.

I added one line of text the auto 'double click to edit'.

Highlighted it to edit it.

I Select the H1 heading from the ribbon styles above to modify the style of the H1 and it crashes and closes everytime. It does it to all of the numbered H Headings.

I can select HI Heading from the ToolBox. I can open the pallet with the options and select everything except the `Styles` option. It crashes and closes when selected.

Tried it Version 18. Working as it should....

I'm sorry, but I cannot reproduce this behavior based on your description. It works correct for me. I have tried on multiple computers.

Can you please describe in more details how to reproduce this?

Double click on a text box.

Which then displays the H1, H2, H3, H4, H5 Headings options in the ribbon above.

Right click on H1 in the ribbon and the dialogue box opens with two options `Modify` and `Add Gallery To Quick Access Toolbar'

Choose `Modify` ..... then it crashes and closes.....

I think I've found a workaround by dragging a HI Heading from the toolbox and selecting options from the properties pallet and adjust the style of it from in there....that hasn't crashed it so far.....

Thank for the details.
However, I still cannot reproduce this issue on any of my test computer.s I have even tried Windows 7 and it does not crash for me.

Maybe some of the other forum member can try this? So, we can be sure this is not just a local issue?

Note that in cases like this every detail is important. For example, which user interface theme do you have and other UI settings (Tools -> Options -> User Interface). There are so many possible combinations, that I can only solve this if know the exact settings to make it not work.

@zigleon

It is always best to provide a stripped down project file for pablo to test. This is the quickest way for him to try and resolve the issue, especially when we're dealing with a new version.

This isn't a project issue.

It doesn't matter if it's a brand new `one text line`only project or an old one.
I can not select to `Modify` the style of a H1 Heading without crashing the software.

Settings were imported from version 18 on install. Version 18 stills works as it should allowing me to modify H1 Headings.

Unfortunately, it does not help. I have the same settings and they work for me.

Do you have another computer you can try it on?

I have tried everything I can think of to reproduce this, but whatever I do, it always works for me.
It may be related to the exact order in which click on the items, but I haven't found a way to make it crash. So, hopefully you can find out what makes it go wrong.
Once I have these steps it will probably be easy to fix, but otherwise it will be difficult to find out what is wrong,

Thanks for your reply.

Version 18 has a 'Docking Algorithm' option in in the user interface. Can't find one in version 19

Could this relate to problem?

These are the exact order of steps taken.

Start a new project

Drag the 'Text' option from toolbox

Double click on the text box.

Got to the H1 Heading option in the ribbon above (which now has a grey box around it after double clicking the text object).

Right click on the H1 in the ribbon and the dialogue box opens with two options `Modify` and `Add Gallery To Quick Access Toolbar'

Choose `Modify` ..... crashes and closes.....

Thanks for trying so far....

This is feature has been removed, because it was out-dated.
However, it is unrelated to your problem.

Thanks for the other details, but so far I have not been able to make the software crash.

Do you have another computer you can try it on?

Can you please try if it works for yo>?

It works OK for me too. I can't make it crash. Using 19.0.0 on Windows 11.

It may be a suggestion to move to a newer Windows. I found this on Wikipedia:
Mainstream support for Windows 7 ended on January 13, 2015.
I don't think it's worth development time to keep supporting systems that have run out of time, but maybe there is an easy fix anyhow.

Thanks for everyone's help.

It also crashes when i drag the `Ready to use Java-Scripts` from the toolbox. I'm guessing this a problem with my system.

I've managed a workaround with the H1 Heading issue.

It's strange as I've had no problems with version 18 on the same system.

In many cases, these type of issues are related to firewall, virus scanner or Window ransomware protection.
Did you add 'webbuilder.exe' to the exception list?

Okay....so I thought I'd just try something and download the 32bit version and install (currently using 64bit)

That is working as it should....no crashes!!

Didn't do any exception list adding.
