Beginner needs help with general best practices

Post by Spinner »

I have been using WB for a number of years sporadically to build really lousy fixed desktop websites..

Now I want to build a not as lousy responsive website and am looking for high-level pointers on what best practices are for, container types, Banner settings, if I need to use breakpoints (hopefully I can avoid this and have it be dynamic all on its own) etc. etc.

I'm basically building a website with about 50 products in it and a PDF spec sheet for each one of those products. Not really much else in the website besides the standard contact us, about us etc.

I have looked pretty extensively on you tube and most of the videos are pretty dated.
I'm using WB 19 right now and can upgrade if I need to.

Can someone please recommend where I can read up on these best practices with current WB features?

Thanks in advance.

Although the videos may be old they are still relevant even today. A good starting point is to decide what layout method you want to use Layout Grids,Flexbox. See the following for more information on RWD and what Layout to use.

one thought on the products. you didn't indicate you were going to sell the products, just list with a pdf link. an ecommerce solution may be something to consider, but one that allows you to turn off the shopping cart and use in catalog mode. it will make it much easier to setup and maintain your products compared to building pages in Wizzy.

as an example take a look at the Stiva Shopping cart from PHPJabbers. You can use in catalog mode and it is easily embeded in a page of your Wizzy site. it uses an online dashboard to manage your products. the catalog is fully response, showing more products per line on wider screens and less on narrow screens (something you ask about) there are other options to consider as well.
