Default Browser Setting

Hello
Changed the default browser setting in Windows including http and https to Chrome but for whatever reason Edge seems to have taken over the default and refuses to change no matter what.
Added the browsers in the software still Edge has taken over.
Is there a way to force Chrome as the default in the software.
Thanks for help on this.

Yes did all that including changing default in windows, edge has just forced itself as the default thinking windows is forcing edge.

Which version of Windows? I have Windows 11 Home - Firefox is my default browser and no Windows update has ever forced Edge to become the default browser. I think I have been asked occasionally, but I have always declined - it's never happened by default.
The default browser (Firefox here) works from WWB as expected, although Edge is listed as an option (that I could remove if I wanted to).

Using windows beta program, got an update and think it forced edge, windows does that occasionally but can always change it but think this beta is forcing edge.

Have you tried the following?
1. Set a Different Default Browser:
Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps. Under Web browser, select a different browser (like Chrome or Firefox) as your default.
2. Disable Edge from Startup: If Edge opens automatically, you can disable it from starting up:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Go to the Startup tab, find Microsoft Edge, and click Disable.
3. Remove Edge from Taskbar: Right-click on the Edge icon in the taskbar and select Unpin from taskbar.
What version of Windows are you running? Do you still wish to have Edge installed?
