Adding a discount variable

Is there a way with PayPal to add a discount variable? For instance, if one person has been given a 10% discount coupon, can that be used directly with the PayPal Shopping Cart?
Currently I am sending that person a customized PayPal invoice to reflect the discount, but I am looking for a way to make it automated.
