firefox veiwing responsive design

I have been using the ctrl shift m to test a site at different breakpoints. I kept getting an error where some of my text was being covered by the footer (using header and footer on a master frame). Although in web builder it all looked good.
The solution I found was to go into firefox under options >> general>> and I deselected use hardware acceleration.
That seems to fix the problem I was having with the display in responsive mode.
Why that fixes it I have no idea.
