Dumb Question ?

This may be a very dumb question, but let me do it anyway.
We start off with a blank page.
We add a floating layer (full width)
Set the background of the payer to image, do net repeat, center, center, cover and we add a picture.
The vertical size of the layer is 300
Now in this scenario you can preview this on any size viewport, and it will always be on top, and the layer with the picture background will always be full width.
Now for the dumb question
What if I want to have a full width image that is VERTICALLY exactly HALF of the viewport, irrespective of the size of the viewport?
Obviously this is only important for the landing page as it will be of no use once you start scrolling
