Problems with Text

I've seen the online tutorial for text.
I cannot drag out a large box for text.
Can only drag left to right with very narrow box. Grabbing mid handle to make larger top to bottom does nothing.
Double clicking inside box to start typing ... the cursor jumps out of the box.
Are there known problems with 64bit version on Win 7 PC ?

This is normal behavior. The height of a textbox is determined by its contents, unless you set the overflow to hidden or scroll.

Started a new project file and immediately went to Text tool.
Thought the "t" key on my keyboard went out, so tried other programs and it works
normally ... and here on web works normally.
Could there be a problem with me downloading and installing the
64bit version vs the 32bit version ?
I do have Win 7 64bit machine.

1st video
Your page background color(black) is misleading you.
Your video shows you are trying to change text color from default black to a bright color.
But it still defaults to black text on black background because...
You must type text in the text box - highlight it - then you can change text color, font size etc.
Test this by Changing your background color to white.
2nd video
Highlight text to change - but have no answer for Capital T.

Thank robertz ... tried with white background and followed your steps and it works.
The weird thing with the small "t" is still happening though.
