Grouping objects into layout grids

Hi is there a way to group objects then move that group into a layout grid without the objects ungrouping themselves?
I have an image and a shape that is on the edge of that image, I have grouped them so they more freely together, however if I insert that group into a grid those objects ungroup. Is there any suggestions to make this work?
Thanks

I'm sorry, this functionality is not available because in a layout grid the size and position of an object is flexible. Unlike in absolute layouts where an object always has the same size/position relative to other objects.

Pablo you saying I'm better off using a normal floating layer?

Two suggested solutions:
1) Convert the combined image and shape into an image. The resulting image can then be inserted in the layout grid.
2) Layout grids and floating layers can both be used in the same project, just not embedded. If used in a responsive site, the floating layer would have to be manually sized (vertically) for each view, but can have layout grids both above and below it on the page.
I've used both techniques in projects with good results.

If you want to position objects with absolute coordinates then you can use a layer.
A layout grid is a flexible container.
