I'm working on a site, getting down to the short strokes (or so I thought) when I start examining the code that had actually exported to the site by viewing the source code for the pages. Every page where I had placed an <h1> tag on the title of the page, there is not an <h1> tag.

If I accept the default size and color and font in the program, perhaps the tag will stay . . . but not every site will use 36pt black text bold. My customer wants the H1 items to be blue, bold, 36pt, and Italicized. When I change those attributes the software removes the H1 tag from the source.

Is there a reason that I cannot change the visual style and keep the H1 tag?

https://www.stevesbodyandframe.com/ is the site. The text below each slider was originally tagged as H1 text. After changing the color and style of the text, it is no longer showing the H1 tags before and after.

Second problem:

All of the SEO work I have done on this site IS GONE! At no time should these things disappear, but they are all gone from my site and from the source file (wbs). Completely 100% gone . . .

However, the "Generator" reference I had removed is there once more. Am I not allowed to remove it?

Oh well, I guess making a timed backup to a separate file was a good idea. I knew that I had spent far too long writing descriptions, keywords, etc. to have dreamed it. Went back to the very first backup (April 14, 2020) and they are all there. I'll be copying and pasting all evening, but now I'm worried that they'll disappear again.

How are you adding the <h1> tags? Via the Style manager or the dedicated Heading object? If using the the style manager, all changes (color, size, etc) need to be done in the style manager. You do not want to change any styles in the text object itself. Also, make sure that responsive fonts for the text object is not ticked.

As for the SEO stuff, not sure what could have happened as i've never experienced this. Lesson #1, save often after major changes.

As with other web design programs (which thankfully this software isn't) I had developed the habit of inserting my text, highlighting it, then clicking on the <H1> markup then make my style edits.

I found out that this software will do it just is done differently. I suppose when I make changes to the "H1" button at the top of the page it writes my selection to the wbs file for that site only rather than for all sites past and present.

As for the statement about the lost metadata, it was meant to remind anyone who reads that timed backups are important. I always use the base name plus date saving it as a new file.

Usually, the metadata /seo stuff is the last I do but with this site I had the information I needed in hand before I even had a decision on which site design he wanted to use, so I roughed them in before starting on the design. Cut and paste isn't that bad, much better than typing it all in again.
