I need a bit of help please.
My web site here https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/ uses a large amount of drawings. I was advised long ago (not by members of this community) not to upload the drawings as .JPGs as apparently they are slow in downloading and take up a lot more storage server space. So following that advice all my drawings are converted to GIF format and implanted into the web page. While they view OK, if the image is clicked on and then opened in a new tab it converts to an inverse image. See the two screen shots attached below.
My question to you is...Why are they being inverted and the background turning black and how can this be prevented?
Was the original advice sound in that .GIFs are better than .JPGs or should actually I use some other format?

The image is not inverted. What you see is transparency of the GIF. You should be able to disable the transparency in the software you have used to create the image.

Note that this is unrelated to WWB. The image will be published "AS IS".

Many thanks for the rapid reply.
Its happening with Chrome web browser, no special imaging software being used. The same thing also happens with MS Edge too. Just clicking on the image and asking it to open in a new page causes the reversal (or Transparency as you call it).

While its not directly a WWB issue, is GIF the best method, or should I use another imaging format? I am very much in need of more web based expertise on that one. Thank you

I personally prefer PNG over GIF. GIF may be smaller but the quality is also lower.

This issuse come when copy image from other locations from internet or form you some folder and put in WWB, he not see transparency, than see like background black and image like invert sometimes.
- So when use image nor use copy, first save image than add in WWB with normal tools / dlick to add image and add image from destinations where you save before at PC / and not have any invert picture.

Gif is different format than JPEG / JPG - so if not must to have something visible at background than use JPEG / JPG. Gif is for animatioms up to 256 colors
