Issues Publishing

Hello,

I am having difficulty adding and deleting new sites when I use the Publish Tool.
This is a fairly new behavior, as I have not had this problem in the past.
I am using version 11.6.5

Can someone please assist me with this issue?

Hi Barbara. Note that your version of WWB 11.6.5 is very old. It has not been supported in the forum for a very long time. But if you can give some more information about the problem... what steps and if you get a error message, maybe someone has an easy solution for you?

First please note that version 11 is no longer supported. If it worked before what have you or host changed? this could be a Windows update or perhaps your host now requires you to use SFTP rather than FTP. It could be you AV / Firewall program you are using is blocking the connection. What does the error log report? Also note version 11 hasn't been updated so it will still work as it did previously.

Yes, I realize it is an old version. However, I shouldn't have to purchase an upgrade because a feature that DID work no longer works.
I am trying to publish locally. For the sites that are currently established, those are working just fine. However, I am trying to add a new site and it will not take. There is no error message.... it just doesn't save the information I am adding.

Here are the steps I am taking:

1. I click on the Publish Tool
2. I click New
3. I select Local Folder. Add the Site name in the description. Browse through my directory until I find the folder where I want to publish it. Then Click OK.
4. Click OK again.
5. Click Publish.
That is NOT the problem. It will publish.

The problem is when I go back to re-publish.... it is no longer there. I have to do all these steps all over again.

So I though perhaps I have too many sites listed. So I deleted all the sites I no longer use. When I go back there, all the sites I deleted are back again.

This feature should not have issues just because there are more current versions of the software.

I never said you have to purchase a update.... I did ask if it worked before what have you or host changed?

I looked at the publish.dat file and it is NOT on Read only.

I also re-named the file then went back to my WWB program and ALL the sites that currently have a local Publish location are gone .... so that won't work .... I have over 50 of them and I don't want to have to rebuild that file.

Any other suggestions?

What version of Windows are you using? Are you using any AV or firewall software? If you have any AV or firewall software running please temporarily disable it and try publishing again. Also check the the program can actually access the publish.dat file and not in a location it doesn't have access to

I am using Windows 7.
I am not having a publishing issue.
I am having an issue getting the publish location to save. I have to manually enter the file location to publish every time.
The publish.dat file is located in document/WYWISYG, etc. systems folder. Yes, I can access the file. As stated in my previous reply, I re-named the file, then when I went back into the WWB program, all the previous saved sites were gone.... so re-naming the file will not help me.

This is expected. WWB creates a new 'empty' publish.dat file when one does not exist.
Did you create a new entry using the new publish.dat file?
Once the new entry is created, use it, then close WWB.
Then open WWB and now see if the entry is still there.
If it is (or isn't) then this may indicate where the issue might be.

OK. I created a new publish.dat file, added the new site, and it stayed.
So there must be something wrong with the old .dat file.
Can this be resolved?

Reinstate the original publish.dat file.
When you do a Publish does the 'new' entry show when you click the dropdown arrow?

The only thing that can be wrong with the old file is the permissions.
So, make sure the file is not read-only and is not blocked by your firewall, virus scanner or system permissions.

Alternatively, you can copy the content from the old file into the new file.
