Pop up window with pdf

I am trying to create an image on a page that when i mouseover a popup window appears showing a pdf file but not having much luck, is there a video perhaps on how to go about that ?
Most browsers will open a PDF document in the default PDF viewer of the computer.
If you really need a 'popup' then this extension may be useful.

You can place it on a dialog or modal layer, for example.
