Opacity - text over a layer

Post by ddaugherty »

If there is a layer and the opacity is set to something less that 100 (say 60), then you put text over that layer, the text now has the same opacity as the layer. Is there a way to prevent the text from assuming the opacity of the layer?

Whenever you set the opacity of a layer and then add a shape or text then they to will take on the opacity of the layer. To prevent this happening you can adjust the alpha value of the layer to make it partially see through / translucent.

Thanks for the response. The only problem is, this layer is using an image, not a solid color. Is there a way to handle the problem if an image is being used in the layer?

In that case, you will have to add transparency to the image (before adding it to the page).
Alpha can only be applied to colors.
