Help to create landing/splash page please

Hi,
I want to create a landing or splash page before the actual site which will have 2 links to different websites of the same company.
for example, when someone types the site address i.e mysite.co.uk they are presented with a page with 2 links which will say either london or colchester, once the desired link is pressed, they are redirected to the chosen website.
If someone could give me simple baby step instructions on how to achieve this i would appreciate it.
I think somewhere i would have to rename the .index pages?
Thanks in advance.

The index page is your landing page. From there, you create links to either other sites or to sub folders on this site.
Index
--- Colchester
-----------All pages for Colchester
--- London
-----------All Pages for London

If the two sites are just one pagers then why not just have the menu/button you use to select one or the other take them to the correct page? It doesn't sound to me like you need multiple sites.

because they are 2 restaurants (same name) in diferent areas of UK and the guy doesnt want anyone ordering online to get confused, so he wants the different site for each restaurant but when entering, he wants the customers to choose which area they want. So I thought a simple landing/splash page with 2 buttons, one for each site.
They are both one page sites so I need to know how to do this.
This sounds simple in my head but in practice isn't quite so straight forward, especially for a thicko like me!
If someone could please guide me here I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

It looks like you are overthinking this.
Did you consider the solution suggested by alan_sh?
- Create the index page in the root
- Put the two sites in a different folder and add links to home pages in the index page.

Actualy I am starting to confuse myself more now. Will this guy need to register and buy a second domain for his second restaurant?
Basically the restaurant will have the same name but differentiated by the area for exampple myplace.co.uk/london and myplace.co.uk/stratford
I will obviously build a second one page site and have them both on my server as sub domains but not sure about the second domain.
Unless i can build them both into the one site? Blimey I'm really showing my lack of knowledge and skill now......sorry.
So once we have sorted this out, we can then tackle the issue of entering each site with a button press from the landing/splash page.
Your help and advice is trully appreciated.

Hi Pablo,
yes it sounds like the way I should go (and I thank alan_sh for the advice too) but am unsure how to do it. I really need a quick step by step on this.
I am such a newbie.....

This is basically what I need, if you could elaborate on that i.e how to make the initial menu/buttons/landing page and upload it as a separate index or if you know of a video that could help me to achieve this initial index page, that would be amaziing.
Once I know how to get this first page working and setup, I think the rest should be easier for me.

Step 1
In the Site Manager create a folder 'london'
Step 2
Put all the pages for the 'london' site in this folder.
Step 3
In the Site Manager create a folder 'colchester'
Step 4
Put all the pages for the 'colchester' site in this folder.
Step 5
On the index page, add two links:
Link 1: link to the home page of 'london'
Link 2: link to the home page of 'colchester'

Just for you - here's a very quick and dirty 3 page web site.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ltzl19qt5u7on ... 1.zip?dl=1
It has a title on each page, a menu on each page and, on the index page, 2 buttons, each of which goes to one of the two pages you want. You can build on this.

Here is responsive version of Alan's demo site. Uses layout grids.
