I know I have asked about this before, and accepted then that bookmarks do not work in Chrome for some reason, although they do in other browsers.
However, when viewing another site I run on Chrome, bookmarks DID work.
On http://www.boga.co.uk/ hovering on one of the options - Registers and Ranks - under the Guide item in the Menu shows that a click will link to guide.html#LayoutGrid4 and indeed it DOES do so.
On the page on my other site giving problems - https://www.donjohnson24.co.uk/palmmidi.html - I noted that I had used bookmarks rather than links to Layout Grids, so suspected that this might be the reason why they do not work.
I therefore changed a couple of the links in the PAGE CONTENTS list to go to Layout Grids - Palm Vx Digitizer Problem and Normal Setting for Hotsync - but they do NOT work, just like the links to bookmarks.
I compared the properties of both pages to see if anything affected the results - to no effect.
I note that if I put any of the link addresses in the browsers address bar - bookmarks or LayoutGrids - they DO work
If anyone could spare the time to check my results using Chrome, and possibly come up with an explanation, I would be most grateful.

It looks like you have added custom scripts to the page.
Maybe that is the reason why it does not work? Note that most templates use bookmarks and they all seem to work fine in Chrome.

At last a solution! Its been bugging me for ages!
I obviously used Ultimate Page Scroller by Ariel Flesler at some time, but as the extension was not marked as visible, I did not notice it was still present. Deleting this 'no longer supported' extension restored sanity.
