Sliders with overlay text

I want to set up a 3 photo slider with overlay text, I have purchased all the extensions and struggled to find out how to do it.
There are already some sliders that have overlays at the bottom of the image I would like something more central.....is this possible or do I need to find a third party slider?
Something as basic as this site

Thanks

The built-in slideshow supports overlay text (captions)
It can be placed on all sides of the images.

or else maybe this will be useful?

Yes, the carousel can be placed in a layout grid. In the settings, set it to flexible. This will make items inside floating.

The carousel is flexible and responsive.
There are many examples for this in the templates section.

I'm so sorry I cannot see any option for setting to flexible in the carousel settings, my layout grid is set for flexgrid.
Is that whats stopping me from dragging the carousel into the layout grid?
Thanks

yes!
The full width property should be set to 'flexible'. See also the information about this in the help.

I must really dumb....you mentioned the slider has options for captions, I have found the styling for the caption but where do you actually write the text caption? is it done via animations and transistions?
EDIT: Disregard I am dumb, I found it.

With the new V20 is there a better way to get animated text over an image so that its flexible. I'm back here again and never had any success.
The caption option is not suitable because I need the positioning to be central not top or bottom. Putting an image into the background of a grid works for the default breakpoint but as you go down to smaller breakpoints the image is magnified not making it suitable. If I use a flexible carousel I cannot put text in the middle of the image as it always defaults to the bottom or the top. Is there a better way to achieve this, I will continue to look for templates that I can work with.
Thanks

Are you dragging images into the carousel or are you setting the images as the background of each slide? If you set them as the background you can then drag a text object inside to be on top of the image

Thanks crispy the issue with using images as a background is when you go to different breakpoints the images are not responsive and the original image looks nothing like it should be. Any ideas how to get around this. It behaves the same if using grids and background images.
Thanks for responding, I really like the builder and I don't use it much but whenever I do I always come across this issue and normally just find different methods but this time I'd like to sort it out.
Ive attached an example look at the 480 breakpoint, how do you fix this

Might be possible with cards. Could you share a link showing the sort of thing you are after? The one in the opening post is defunct.

the issue with using images as a background is when you go to different breakpoints the images are not responsive and the original image looks nothing like it should be.
If you set the background mode to 'cover' then the image is responsive. It will always fill the background no matter what size the viewport is.
Note that you cannot freely position text on a floating (flexible) a object. Otherwise the object is no longer responsive. So, the text needs to be 'anchored' to either the top, center or bottom.
You can use Sections to have overlapping objects, but then you will need to add breakpoints to make sure it looks correct for different devices.
If you keep everything flexible then most of the responsiveness will be automatic.
