Generated html

Post by Eugen Simon »

How can I affect the generated html code when I want to change that example. in TOC and Z order. in it. I ask it because what I see in the editor is not the same when I publish it. And how can I influence it myself?
Thanks for the help. Eugen

You need to provide an example (a wwb file) of what you are doing. Just one page. From what you have posted, we don't have enough information to help (well, I don't).

It's been quite some time since I asked you. I have the same problem TOC still sorts the right list on the page. I can send the project file to you. I can't see how should I upload my project file wwb. to you. I can't see how should I upload my project file wwb. to you. But I have on my server. And you can see it. Or I can send it by email to you. My Server's address is https://esj.myds.me/esjpedia/ what you can see.

As stated before, if you need help please provide a project file and explain in detail what you are wanting to do. For example, what is TOC? You can upload your project to your server and then provide a link here for us to download.

My problem with TOC is that it shows a different order in Editor than it writes into generated html. Altso shows one thing in preview and does something else when it sends to publishing. And I can't control how it sorts. How can I change the generation of order into my TOC.

First please note that WYSIWYG Web Builder is not a HTML Editor but a HTML Generator what this means is that no HTML exists till you publish. So this means you cannot directly edit/modify the HTML in the program.
@crispy68 TOC is the Table of Contents..

I understand that it is not an html editor. But that particular TOC generator would generate the right content. But it doesn't. Shows one thing into the editor and publishes something else. My problem is that it is not possible to control how it should publish the content because it does not match what it shows in the editor.

There should be no difference in what is shown in the software and what is published. If there is it generally means that not all files required are not on the server. In the TOC it use css so if this is missing it will not display correctly so please ensure all files are published correctly.

Ok. and then which of the css files control then the sort order. Because I haven't seen any connection with css files that control it. All files are published how wwb sends it. Everything comes into the server when I publish it. The generated html does not end up in any css file because it is the html that will be inserted into the finished html file. Right here is index.html. and the sorting is not controlled by the css file. Somehow it generated html which is not right. And the problem lies where it is generated it. But the problem is that you cannot influence the generated code.

Your image shows the generated html but it is the CSS coding in the CSS file that will actually control the look and order of things. Are you sure you are uploading all of the files and not just the generated html file? Make sure you have it set to publish all files and not just publish HTML files only in the publisher. Do you have a link to the page?

@baconfries, thanks. could not think what it was. :?

You may be right. But that image shows the difference between the editor and the generated code into the editor. That's not what's on the server. it's still into programs and it hasn't transferred to anywhere. The problem is that the generated "css html" is different from what the editor shows and the generated code gets uploaded on the server. What makes it different from the editor's displayed code from what is displayed as generated code.

As already mentioned there should not be any difference the only time there will be is when there is files missing on your server. Here is a "Demo" of the TOC
https://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/suppo ... tents.html

Screenshot of the HTML showing the external css file circled if you don't have this on the server then it will not look like in does locally on your PC hence why I wrote what I have.

And I can't control how it sorts
If you wish to move up/down text you can use the following circled
