File not found error when trying to preview website pages

Post by capeatlantic »

I have just started having an issue that when I go to preview my website, it will open the page I was on but when I attempt to navigate my menu and click to another page, it tells me "File not found".

I am not sure what could have happened. I have previously been able to access the website on the preview normally and access all my pages. Recently I have added a "jump to top" button to about every page and added some new pages.

I read in a previous post that the web pages may be in php format and not html - but I have checked that everything is showing as html.

I also have checked that everything is still linked properly, and they look fine from the surface. In my navigation menu I have some buttons that go right to a PDF and those are still opening, but I cannot move to a different page that was not the one I opened the preview on.

Hope someone can help! Thank you!

Hi there.
There are some options under the drop down of the preview button:-

Preview Current Page
Preview Entire Website
Preview Pages Currently Opened.

These are toggles and whatever is selected will be the default of just pressing "Preview".
You might have selected Preview Current Page accidentally and not realised.

Mikro - that was exactly what was happening! Thank you so much I would not have found that! Everything is working correctly now.

Pablo - thank you for sharing that was very helpful!

Thank you both again!
