I can't seem to achieve an image slight enlarge effect on mouseover.
I think I'm missing something very basic.

I did see that...but, the effect I'm looking for is a simple slight image enlargement in place to acknowledge that it's been moused over.
I think I messed you up with the zoom wording. It's just a way of showing that the image has been moused over, similar to having text being 12 font and turning to 14 font on mouseover, and return to 12 when mouseout.

You can use transitions to apply a transform to an image on mouse-over ,
