Hello. I am facing the following problem with the Photo Gallery element on my site. The original photos I import are of jpeg type and are very small in size, about 200KB, but the thumbnail created by the Photo Gallery is of png type, with the result that its size is much larger than the original photo, about 900KB!!! Is there any way to change this?

You can set the compression level in Tools -> Options -> Publish
Also, if you use jpg as input then the generated thumbnails should also be in jpg format. Make sure you name your files 'jpg' instead of 'jpeg'.

I found the combination that leads to my problem. Is when i put frame from the style menu of the Photo Gallery options. When i do that all the thumbnails is generated to .png extention. Is there a way to change that? Maybe in future update? Thanks!
This is my DEMO that recreates my problem.

When you use a frame, then software will generate a new image with the frame included. And because the frame is transparent, it needs to be a (transparent) png image.
That is why the image is larger than the original. It has an extra layer of data for transparency.
This behavior cannot be changed otherwise the frame will no longer be transparent.
Also, note that the actual size of the image (and therefor the quality) depends on the size of the thumbnail during design time.
In your layout, the images are approximately 300 pixels wide, so the output images will be 300 pixels.

Sorry for your time again but is there any walkaround to mimic the behavior of the frame? Like to put shadows to every thumbnail? I ask that because the frame i use is look like a shadow effect that makes the thumbnail look like floating.

The gallery also supports standard box shadow.
