Images not Displaying Properly

Tried all of the below. Images still do not display. Version 19. Could someone please help?

Why aren't my images displayed on a published page?

Post by Pablo ยป Sun Apr 01, 2007 6:26 pm
- Did you upload the images to the web server? Make sure you did not accidently enabled 'Only publish HTML files' in the publish window.

- By default Web Builder places all images in a sub folder called images, you can change this through Tools->Optioons->Publish->Image Sub Folder. If you leave this field empty, the images will be published in the same folder as the published page.

- Some web hosts do not support sub folders, so make sure you have permissions to create folder on the server. If not, then you must tell Web Builder to publish the images in the same folder as the HTML.

- Make sure the image names are valid, most web servers are case-sensitive and/or do not support special characters in the filenames of images. Tip: Use lowercase filenames.

- Do your image filenames contain whitespaces, quotes or other special characters? Image names with spaces can cause problems in some browsers and/or web servers, use underscores to connect words instead of spaces.

- Make sure your images are saved in a web safe format. For example IE does not support all types of JPG.

To be able to help you, I need to see what you have done.
Do you have a demo?

Is this the url to your site? https://hughoshea.com/ Looking at the source and trying to view the images it shows me that they are not on the server and gives a 404. You also have one image that is using a number start with this is not advisable please see the following on naming conventions.
How do I name my pages, images and other files?

Thank you, BaconFries for your speedy reply. Yes, hughoshea.com is my website. I have tried everything (I think) to get the images to display; as I explained in my original post. I will, however, try your suggestion of not having a number at the start of the jpegs. I thought I could have a mix of alpha numeric characters. The videos display perfectly; they have spaces, these things (((( etc. So I am frustrated. Have used this software before - so I don't know what's going on.
O. And the last time I published there were no errors regarding incorrect characters etc. But hey, I'll give it another go. Thanks again, Hugh.

And Pablo. Thank you, too for your speedy reply. A demo of the software? No. I've paid for the full version. A screen snip?

The demo means a copy of the .WBS file cut down so only the issue is in there.

As for missing files - if they are not on the server, then you are not publishing them, or they are ending up in the wrong place. This is where a demo .wbs may help. When you click on 'publish', are you publishing all pages and all files?

In looking at your page, the images are in your root folder with your html files and not in the images folder. There is no 'images' folder on the server and that is where your html code is looking for them.

Thanks again everyone for your help; it's very encouraging and I am pleased that some of you have taken the time to assist me. I will list my responses in order because there have been several of them and I have tried several of your suggestions before coming here.

1. I don't have a copy of Word to copy the .wbs to the clipboard.
2. I have read the renaming conventions and as I replied to CrispyBacon, I'll re-try naming the jpegs without a number at the start.
3. Yes, alan_sh I am publishing all of the files. They are on the server. There is an option (using CPanel) to put the images in public_html along with everything else. I can also put the images in same to a sub-folder 'images' - neither method works.
4. And crispy68 no. 3 answers your attempt to help.
5. What is weird is that (having a look at public_html folder as I write this) is that all of the css icons are grey with the broken link icon. Perhaps the problem lies there? After several phone calls to my hosting provider to get this issue resolved (they were the ones who pointed out to me the broken css links) that I would have to see a web developer. Nah. Not doing that. Shouldn't have to.
I'll take a screenshot of the public_html folder. What gets me is that the first jpeg of yours truly on the index page, top left, is named mecol.jpg and doesn't have a number at the start of the file name yet doesn't display. Something strange is afoot! as I think Shakespeare once said.

No option to attach screenshot? Thank you all again, Hugh.

Didn't you use the built-in publish tool to upload the files via FTP to the server?
All folders should be generated automatically.

If you did use the built-in FTP, then can you please set the log level to 'all' and share the content of the log?
