If I want a reader of my page to be able to download a file, from a menu perhaps, for saving locally (rather than opening), what might be the best way ?
Sorry if the answer is obvious to others !

You can use the 'link to a file' option for this.

Thanks Pablo.
I created a table. With the text in one cell, I created a link to a file already uploaded at http://domain/filename using External Web Address and the URL. Unfortunately, the file (an mp4) opens for replay.
I tried using link to File but that did nothing useful !
I just want the user to download and save, not download and play/open.

The behavior of the file link is control by the browser preferences.
In most cases, you can right click the link to download the file.
