editing text in WWB 20

I'm not sure what is going on but when I edit text in a text box, the cursor is 50% below the line. It's very distracting. The WWB file is one I converted from WWB19 and I never had any issues with that. It only seems to be the lowest line that is affected. [edit], no it's whenever the text box clicks over to a new line]

edit 2 - if I copy the text from WWB 20 to WWB 19 - that starts behaving the same way too. But if I create a new WWB file and copy the text to it, it doesn't.

It's very hard to explain, but the font is Ariel 12 point and the text box is inside a layout grid. It doesn't happen if I create a new test WWB file with just a layout grid and one text box - even if I copy the old text block or even the entire layout grid across. So, I think it's something about the 19-20 conversion.

Does this mean anything to anyone? I'm running hotfix 3

To be able to help you, I need a DEMO project (.wbs file) so I can see all your settings.
Also, please include a description how to reproduce this problem.

I do not need the complete project because that will only take more time to figure out what you have done.
Basically, I just need a small project with one page and object(s) that are relevant to your question.

For further details about how to share a project file, please see this FAQ:

Pablo,

A new test site doesn't display the issue. I will see if I can create something from a 19 to 20 upgrade.

I copied the relevant page from my site to a new .WBS file and it can be found here https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/k267nrmh ... fcz2s&dl=1

If you edit the text on the RH side, go to the last character, insert a <CR> and then start typing, the cursor is half way down the letters. I can reproduce this every time. I am running Windows 11, 24H2 on an AMD system with 64Gb of memory.

It is very irritating and is stopping me using WWB 20 at the moment.

I think the problem is related to the vertical alignment of the layout grid column. It is set to 'middle'.
Does the same project with the same settings work in WB19? Just to see if this is really related to WB20 or the editor.

Ah yes, I think you are correct. I did manage to reproduce it in WWB19.

So, what is the solution? I want to have the layout grid with 'middle' as the vertical alignment. Do I have to set it to 'top' and then change it later? Or is it something you can fix for WWB20?

Thanks

Alan

I'm sorry, there is currently no workaround. It's an issue of the text rich text editor. It is not something I have direct control over.
I will contact Microsoft to see if they have solution, but that may take a while...

OK. At least I have a workaround now. Thank you for finding that.

Pablo,

Using the advanced richedit dll seems to fix the problem, but only because the cursor keeps disappearing if I type. That seems to be better for me.

Do you mean that you do not see the cursor at all?
Even when using normal text, not vertically centered?

If the layout grid is set to 'top' I see the cursor. If it's set to 'middle', I don't. Which is very weird.

Not even when you type?

Especially when I type. No cursor. But only when the layout grid (or that cell of it) is set to middle.

For me, it seems to work correct.
But this is not something I have control over as a developer.

It's OK. I thought the updated riched.dll might cure it, but it just makes it behave differently. We have a way round, just make the layout cell 'top' while editing.

It's just weird the way it happens for me (on 2 machines).

Greetings,
you can try this version of RICHED20, see if the behavior is different

Where are they from? I have already loaded the latest from MS365 to try out.

[I don't normally install things without some sort of confirmation]
