I set everything up with the default browser, but when I press F5, it doesn't preview the page.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible that you have set the page extension to .php if so then you cannot "Preview" pages using the .php extension locally in your browser you are required to publish to your host first which should be running php to see the results.but when I press F5, it doesn't preview the page

Do you mean pressing 'F5' does not work or 'preview' does not work?
Preview is standard system functionality. So, if the browser does not launch then this means that .html is not associated with your browser.
