Hi. you must update the sites to be "responsive" then the layout nead to be modern. Looks like 90th website.

I am not an expert but responsiveness is a must. Everyone has mobile devices and you should design with this in mind.
A google search I come across was this.....
Something to consider but not mandatory?
You are the designer and have the final decision to make.
After all the site is still in progress.

Yes, might be hard to believe but true. Google now says your site must be responsive, this is so it can be viewed in all devices from not just PC's/Laptops but to all mobile device's including IOS and android.Wow! I didn't know there were rules to designing websites!
They can even now penalize you by lowering ranking and to a extent remove your site altogether if they choose so. Do a Google search on this and you will find it a wash with the subject.
