Getting 2 layout grids

Post by Trevor Johnson »

I'm using WWB15.2 and just starting to make a mobile site from the desktop site with a 320p break point. I've obviously done something wrong because now, when I drag a layout grid to the smartphone version, it partially covers what was already there and there are two grids. When I go to the layout's properties it shows 2 x 6 grids, if I delete one, the second 'half' of the grid gets deleted, even though the double grid is one above the other. It took me some time to realise this because as you can understand, one double grid is under half of the 'normal' ones. So I've clearly gone well astray and wondering if this is a common problem. I've tried downloading 15.3 but still the same.

By default, a layout grid has two columns.
Depending on the current breakpoint these columns will be stacked. With the standard settings below 480 pixels.
So, what you see is normal behavior.

Thanks Pablo,
So making a breakpoint site under 480, when one adds a layout grid, we should immediately choose properties and adjust according to choice. Is this why they underlap or overlap the existing grids because this is what fooled me, I couldn't drag them away from being under an existing grid?

Layout grids do not overlap existing grids, unless the position property is set to 'fixed'.

Tip: always include a demo project so we can see what you have done.

O.k., thanks Pablo. I've read the link and all is clear now. Will send question along with project next time.
