Cannot open old WBS site in older version & cannot save Version15 wbs for version15. Pls HELP!

Hi, I just purchased the most current version WWB15 to check it out, so I thought I would open an older .wbs site file I had from a previous version WWB-8 in my old version WWB-8 program. The icon next to any of my Version8 .wbs sites, shows the 8, but when I click any file to open it, the error states cannot open because file was created with a more current version. Which is weird as I had only had Version8 up until now. I just wanted to look at an earlier version8 site I made to copy some of the parameters I had used in one site to the next to save time and frustration. Also, when I went to open my version8 WWB-8 exe program, it did not recognize me as an owner and said Purchase/activate or continue with trial. In order to make the popup go away, I had to click Continue with trial (if I didn't the popup would have never left my desktop when I tried clicking the X).

Anyway, my questions are, will I be able to view this older wbs version8 file in my older version8 program? I was able to open the older file in the new version15... But even when I did a 'Save As' for the old file in the new program... it saved as a version8. Also, before that, I opened Version15 and started a NEW site, but when It saved, the Version8 icon is showing next to the file, and if I attempt to open it, it pushes me to open in Version8 ONLY, and then the popup Activate/Trial box pops up again.

I am on a PC Desktop. The actual exe program and Save to Folders of projects for ea. version of the program are in 2 Totally different HD from each other if that matters).

I would like to move forward with using the version15 I just purchased but need my new files to not somehow have a version8 on them when I create them in version15 so that they will open. Please let me know when I can do on my end to make this happen. Apologies if this is a simple fix and I am dense. Thanks in advance.

I think the file association for the wbs file type is wrongly configured on your system. It is still configured to open for version 8.

Under Windows 10:
In the search field enter 'File Type', select the first item
Now you can update 'wbs' file type and association it with the latest version.

And of course you can also use the file menu to open projects.

Thanks for the response. I found the 'Choose default apps by file type' and switched all wbs to open with WWB-15
I was also opening docs by selecting from 'Open With'... but didn't want to have to do that every time because I would probably forget to open the file that way.
So now that all the old wbs will hopefully Also open with WWB-15 now, should I just forget about ever opening the version8 I have since old wbs will now open with WWB15 (even though I may no longer have same extensions etc)?... and also because it keeps prompting me to Activate Version8 when I try to open tWWB8 program, even when I attempted to put in the old Serial KEy code I had for my purchase (& email) it wouldn't accept that either.???
I just want to be clear.

I usually recommend to keep the previous version around for a few weeks. Then in case something does not works the same then you can always compare the settings of the old versions.

You old serial number should still work. Make sure you use the same email address as previously.
