Event trigger object on another page?

I have an image on a page of my site. I have a layer that slides out on another page. I would like to click the image and have it link to the second page (that works) and use the Events to Show the layer. It looks like I can only see the objects for the page I am working on. So on page one and can't see the layer on the other page to select it in Events. Is this the case?

the calculator icon on home page links to shop2 page. the calculator on shop page opens the layer.

Correct, you can only access/control elements on the current page. If you could control elements on another page then this could be a major security risk so that is why browsers do not allow this.

Do you always want the calculator layer to pop open when shop2 loads? or do different events happen on shop2 when clicked from other locations.
