None of the lightboxes work correctly, only one works at all!

Post by Smee »

What happened with V16.2 and lightboxes?

The program has three "included" lightboxes to choose from:
  • fancy box
  • magnific popup
  • prettyphoto
I did a straight install - no deviations, no additions or subtractions. I just ran the V16.2 installer.

Working on my site, the only one that does anything once uploaded is Magnific popup --- and it looks like crap. Opens image in a popup window. No, not like a lightbox popup but a popup window with no menu bar, no tool bar, no location bar, no status bar, and not resizeable. But, it does have scrollbars.

I noticed that there is a difference with the options in the program. Under Tools / options / HTML changed the Java Script options checked to NONE. Could that be affecting the operation of the lightboxes?

Would really like to find a solution so that I can finish up.

Posted in "bugs" a few hours ago, no one looked at it so posting a more complete description of the problem.

One other note: Lightboxes for gallery extensions still seem to work, but setting up my own gallery and using a lightbox to display an image does not.

Please remove the other post. My apologies, that's why I mentioned the other post.

https://ahgweb.com/web_design.html has a gallery at the bottom of the page.

The default lightbox for the page is set to magnificpop, as that is the only one that works. Only three images are included for the lightbox: the second beekeeping image, the boating image and the animals image. The rest are linked to web pages.

I am guessing that there is a configuration setting that I need to make, but not sure where to start. Not wanting to make things worse, I am in hopes of getting some insight.

The limitations of the gallery extensions are what I am trying to solve by making my own gallery using prettyphoto lightbox.

With the extensions I have tried, I can either use it as a lightbox or, if it allows me to link to a site, I have no control over how it loads beyond new window, same window, parent, or top.

The way I had my gallery set up was I could open each website that I want to display in a popup window of the size I want. Opening the site would not take them away or otherwise make my site disappear. It would still be visible beneath the popupbox. Those sites which no longer exist have images that I want to popup in a lightbox. Again, I want my site to remain visible beneath the image.

All lightboxes work with the latest version.
There is most likely a conflict in your settings.
To be able to help you, I need a demo project so I can see all your settings.

I generally use just prettyphoto, but installed and tried several of the ones on the free extras page. Problem persists.

Test file (masterpage and problem page only) are included in this file:

As far as I know, I'm using the default settings for the program as well as the site. Just easier for this old guy to use "as is".

Can you please remove everything from the project that is not relevant to your question so it's immediately clear what you have done?
Also, the images should be included otherwise I just see an empty page.

I left the header because there is javascript for Google. Here is the wbs file and a zip file with the images - thumbnails and full size.

The way you are currently using the lightbox, opens the selected file in an inline frame.
This feature was designed for opening other page in a lightbox, not images.

If you want to create a gallery with multiple images then please use this method:

That was what I tried first. Problem is, the image won't stay confined to the size of the image as placed on the page or even within the confines of an image placeholder.

Can you please be more specific?
Where in your project do I need to look to see this behavior?
