Adding link to Photo Gallery, Light Box Gallery, Fancybox

Post by mitch1957 »

1. Is there a way to add a "more info" button to Photo Gallery and have it linkable to another page?

2. I'm using Photo Gallery, Light Box Gallery, Fancybox: For my photos. On the web, when you click a thumbnail, it will enlarge on the screen. HOW can I add a "buy" button or link when the enlarged photo is showing?

1. There is currently no option to add a 'more info' button. But you can add a link to the images. Of course this will disable the ability to use a lightbox , because the 'click' can either be a link or a trigger for lightbox not both at the same time.
2. There is no standard option for this. As far as I know, none of the (third party) lightboxes supports such an option.

Hi Pablo see the following URL to DD (Dynamic Drive) at one time I shared an extension that included a link in the description of the pop up image maybe this could be implemented into the lightbox so that the image output is as
<a href="images/image-1.jpg" rel="lightbox" title="my caption" rev="http://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com">image #1</a>
http://dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/l ... /index.htm

Thanks for the link, however this script is very old. Unfortunately, the code is not valid for modern websites.
But I will investigate if I can find another ligthbox that supports this functionality, so I can add it in a future update.

WHAT / WHERE can I get functionality to click on a photo thumbnail on a page > Enlarge the photo where you can view all the photos enlarged with an arrow and also have a link associated with each larger photo where a customer can click and go to a separate page to purchase that particular photo or the same link on each large photo going to one page to purchase a photo?

EXAMPLE: https://huntingtonwitherill.com/hand-of-man

I would really appreciate non-technical terminology as I am not a webmaster or anything.

First can you please not shout. Please see the following urls but note these will only display thumbnails and onclick a larger image will show but as previously mentioned it is not possible to have a link on the enlarged image to take you to a external page to purchase. If this is what you need to you with need to use a custom script or implement yourself.

Sounds to me like you might want to look into some eCommerce options for photographers. A quick google search found a lot of options and many can be integrated into the web site. The will cost you, though, some more than others. Might be worth a look.

WYSIWYG Web Builder supports many (third party) lightboxes.
However, none of these lightbox scripts have 'purchase URL' functionality.
The website you are referring to, uses a custom made script. So, you are not allowed to use that script.

Maybe you have another example of a website with this functionality , so I can look at which script they are using?

Thank you Pablo for addressing this issue.

Here is another example of when a photo is enlarged and this one has an "add to cart" link. I simply what to have a link on the enlarged photo to take a viewer to another page for that particular photo's details and purchase options.

EXAMPLE: https://mikecowanphotography.com/shop/gallery-01

This website uses the latest version of Fancybox.
https://fancyapps.com/fancybox/3/

Unfortunately, the license does not allow me to integrate this script into the software.

You can try this:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=80753

But it looks like the website also has added custom code to implement the buy buttons.

The url you provided uses the fancybox3 script (licenced) for displaying the images which cannot be integrated due to this, it also has a payment method integrated named fotomerchant see the following FotoMerchant Due to this being a paid to use service (licenced) it cannot be implemented into the software. But I am sure Pablo will respond and it is entirely up to him to whether it can be added or not.

I thank everyone for posting their information. I downloaded Fancybox-3 onto my computer. I have the unzipped files sitting on my desktop. How do I incorporate the usage of Fancybox-3 into a page on WYSIWYG 16? Remember, I have no coding or tech knowledge.

There is a lot you can do in Fancybox3 but in order to get the finish you want you are going to have to learn how to use it. That only comes from research and getting familiar with the coding. Between "Untie Google" and the fancybox web site there is stacks of information and ideas. Yanis, the originator, did not design this as plug and play. You have to know what you are doing and then be able adapt to Web Builder. Coding from v1 to v3 and even in updates to v3 are different in many ways as he constantly strives to streamline the package. The fancyapps forum can be very helpful as can Yanis himself but be wary as he assumes knowledge, something he has plenty of.
From my own experience I decided not to use the integration into Web Builder as set out above and that way I was able to use the more advanced coding I gleamed from the web and other sources. Learning how to use adding to page html, adding html objects and using the File Publisher will greatly assist with adapting the full Fancybox experience. If you have the patience the end results are worth it.

@mitch1957
What you are asking, is not frequently asked feature, so I do not have standard solution for this.
Most third party lightboxes that support this functionality require a commercial license, so that is why I cannot integrate it into the software.
You can integrate Fancybox 3 into WWB yourself as described here:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=80753

However, you will still need to make change to the configuration to make it work like you want.

If you are not familiar with coding then maybe you can use this as alternative?
https://www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com/superbox.html

Or else if you can find another lightbox that has this functionality and is free to use, then let me know so I can maybe add support for it in the future.
