Slide Show Sequence

Post by Daniel Baran »

Hello All,
I'm having trouble with a Slide Show Sequence.
I have 9 slides that I wish to embed in my site in a "click-through" fashion.
The slide show/sequence option works as desired with the following exception.
When I add my 9 slides, and then publish the page, the last slide is always displayed first.
I have tried moving the files Up or Down in the file list in WWB, but I can't seem to get the first slide to display FIRST.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Daniel

To be able to help you, I need to see your settings.
Do you have a demo project?

Thanks Pablo,
Here is the Demo link:
https://timespreader.com/TempDemo.html
What happens for me is as follows:
On page load, the last slide (9) is displayed first.
When the right arrow (forward) is clicked, slide (2) is displayed.
As further forward clicks are made, the sequence continues as expected.
After clicking through to (9), the cycle begins as expected at (1).
So the issue seems to be only at first loading of the page.
What I would prefer is for slide one to display on page load, and then right arrow
(forward) clicks to scroll through the slides in numerical order 2-9.
For simplicity, the slide numbers are shown in the upper right of each slide.
Thanks for your help,
Daniel

When it is asked for a Demo it is referring to a copy of the project file namely the .wbs file and not a url. Please carefully read the url Pablo provided on this. Just viewing the source of the page wont help as it doesn't show what settings you used within the software and slideshow. So can you please just provide a one page with the slideshow and it settings and save as a project .wbs and share. Thanks

Thanks for sharing the project.
However, it seems to work correct for me. I did not make any changes to the project.

Are you using the latest version of the software?

Thanks Pablo,
Yes, I'm using the latest version 16.4.0.
Seeing your result, I proceeded to try and duplicate it.
I published just the pared down Demo file (the same one you have) to
my xampp private test server. It works as expected (same as your result).
Oddly, when I import that same page into my main project, I get
the problem from the original post. I can't think of anything in the
main project that would be interfering with the slideshow.
It's a pretty small (10 page) site with mostly static content.
If you have any direction for things to consider, I'm all ears.
Also;
I have no objection to providing the entire project file (wbs), but
can understand if you do not want to pursue this further.
Thanks and Regards,
Daniel

For what it's worth:
I just did an additional test which yields an interesting result.
If I change the slide show "Object Properties" to "Lightbox Gallery" and "Magnific Popup", the display sequence behaves as expected after publishing.
If I change the Object Property back to "Sequence" and publish again (with no other changes to the project), the erroneous display sequence occurs.
I could use the "Lightbox Gallery" style, but my preference is the "Sequence" style display.
Thanks again for any help on this,
DB

To be able to help you, I need a project file that demonstrates the problem.
The project you have shared does not seem to have the problem so in that case there is nothing I can do to investigate if something is wrong.

On publishing the above demo, I see the slideshow anomaly in the following browsers (all are latest versions):
Edge
Chrome
Firefox
Brave

The exception is Pale Moon browser, in which the same url / slideshow loads and operates perfectly.

A live example of this can be observed at the previously posted link also:

I'm sorry, but I still do not see the problem in this project.
Also, it does not look like the project you have shared is the same as this page:
https://timespreader.com/TempDemo.html

Did you share the correct project?

Thanks Pablo,
I'm at a loss as to why I see the anomaly and you don't on publishing "Demo-with-slide-show-glitch.wbs".
You are correct, that the "TempDemo" link is not exactly the same as the project file.
I just appended the slideshow page to my main site to provide a quick and easy visualization of the problem.
I definitely see the anomaly there, as well as when I publish "Demo-with-slide-show-glitch.wbs" in a "stand-alone" form.
I will attempt to solve this without burdening more of your time.
One last question for anyone who has looked at https://timespreader.com/TempDemo.html
Does it work normally for you (load slide one first), or am I the only one seeing 9 first then 2 on right-arrow?
Any feedback on that might help me narrow it down a bit.
Thanks All,
DB

I also see the 9 first.
However, with the project you have shared I cannot reproduce this behavior.

Does this work for you?

This is your project without any changes.

Thanks for your persistence and fast feedback on this Pablo,
Yes, that link works perfectly for me in multiple browsers.
It's all a bit baffling; maybe some difference on the server side of things?
I'm seeing the problem behavior on both my private test server (xampp/apache) and public site (openresty/nginx).
Sorry if it's too much information.
I appreciate all the help and can understand if you don't have further input.
Though I'm wide open to further suggestions.
I will keep working it and report back if I find an explanation.
Thanks and Regards,
Daniel

Re: Slide Show Sequence

Post by Daniel Baran »

This seems to be a Javascript problem, but not one caused by WWB.
I have a carefully crafted and quite strict "Content Security Policy" on both my test server and public server.
This has helped garner A+ ratings from the sites that test server security headers.
While well intended (i.e. protecting site users), it seems that it was blocking some JS from executing.
After disabling it as a test, I found that the slides worked as expected in all browsers.
So it is a server-side issue (as suspected), and one of my own creation (not a WWB problem).
If possible, I would like to add/allow the needed Javascript URLs into my CSP; but I'm not sure what they are.
Any help on that would be appreciated.
Thanks again to Pablo

The page uses the following scripts:
jquery-1.12.4.min.js
jquery-ui.min.js
wb.slideshow.min.js
TempDemo.js

Re: Slide Show Sequence

Post by Daniel Baran »

In an effort to get this working expediently, I have been
trying some of the other slide-show options in WWB.
By substituting the "carousel" option in place of "sequence",
I am getting an effect pretty close to what I started with.
This is working as specified, and seems to be unaffected
by the aforementioned CSP or other JavaScript issues.
For anyone interested, the result can be seen at:
