Crashing when trying to link text to a destination.
Hi there, WYSIWYG has started crashing on me when I try to add a link to highlighted text. Initially, I updated to the most recent version. Still crashing. I then tried dowloading the 32 bit version, still no go. I deleted everything from my computer did a system reboot and then reloaded the 64 bit version. Still crashing. I have been actively using WYSIWYG on this particular project for over a week without any problems. (Including selecting text and linking it). Any help/guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Crashing when trying to link text to a destination.
The text editor is standard Windows functionality so maybe other software has overwritten system files?
The filename of the editor (is msftedit.dll) which is usually in the Windows system folder.
A system recovery may fix it.
Or else, the link history may be corrupt.
To clean it:
1. open 'regedit'
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pablo Software Solutions\WYSIWYG Web Builder 16\
3. Remove the 'URL_History' item

Re: Crashing when trying to link text to a destination.
Hi Pablo, thanks for your speedy reply. I have tried both options suggested without success. I have even tried changing the permissions on the dll file as they appeared quite limiting. (Just read and write). Still no go. What I have realized though is that it is only this one project that has a problem! Loading other projects and trying the text link with all of them works fine. So, I wonder if you may have an idea of why just this one project? Thanks.

If you need further assistance, then please share a demo project and describe the exact steps to reproduce the problem.

Re: Crashing when trying to link text to a destination.
Missing extensions and improperly named files (like images with spaces, special characters, etc.) are big reasons for crashing. Check those out, especially since other projects open fine.
Also, you might try opening a backup of the problem project and see what happens.

Re: Crashing when trying to link text to a destination.
Projects shouldn't crash.
If you've found one that does - save it somewhere. Then, copy it (save as) to a new name and try it again. Then remove pages from the project until it stops crashing. Put the page back that failed and check it crashes again (this is why you saved the original - so you can do it again). Then put that project and associated files on a public share somewhere (dropbox?) and let Pablo know where it is so he can try it out.
