Hello,
I just upgraded WWB16 to WWB17. I noticed that version 17 is much, much slower than 16. Previewing a single page takes 3-4 times longer. Similar to publishing. It took me about 1 hour to publish a page, when in version 16 it took me 15 minutes at all. Similarly, searching with global replacement takes an awfully long time. Unfortunately the time increase is a big problem for my site (400 pages) and frankly I think I'll go back to 16. It's a shame because 17 has great options for error checking, SEO and more. Is this just my feeling or does anyone else have the same? Are there any improvements planned for the speed of the program?

Re: slow preview and publishing
It should not make a huge difference when you publish with version 17.
Maybe you have enabled different settings?
For example, it may take longer to publish do you set the log level to 'all'
Also, enabling formatting options like 'minify' will take extra time.
The more options you enable, the longer it will take to process all the code.
But, it is difficult to say anything meaningful about this without knowing exactly what you have done.
If you need further assistance then please prepare a demo project so I can investigate if this needs to be improved or if it's just a configuration issue.

Re: slow preview and publishing
Thank you for your quick reply. I simply chose to import the settings from 16 when installing version 17 and I preview and publish with the settings unchanged. So should I change something in 17 to make previewing and publishing work the same as in the default settings of version 16?

Re: slow preview and publishing
OK thx for fast answer Pablo,
I found in the publish options that there was checked "check of invalid filenames". When I unchecked this, project is publishin much faster. Thx a lot. 17 is really great stuff

Re: slow preview and publishing
Good info to know re: check for filenames. I'll have to try it on my end and see if it changes anything, although my preview/publish is much faster than what you reported.
Re: Slow preview and publishing
In the latest update (17.0.1), I have made some performance improvements related to the way text and tables are processed for publishing.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=93120
I have tested a website with 500+ pages and for me it's about 200% faster when publishing (compared to version 16.4)
It is difficult to say if this will also make a difference for you because i do not know your configuration.

Re: Slow preview and publishing
I don't know how you did it , but the program is muuuuch faster after patch 17.0.1. Opening a project, handling with project and handling checking SEO is much much faster. I haven't published the project yet, but the speed is much improved. Thanks a lot
Checked publishing: MUUUUCH FASTER, 2xfaster than 16
