I appreciate that I will probably have to provide more info and files, but I've been at this for several hours and need to go to bed, so leave this query in case I've missed something obvious and someone can help.
I amended a ver 16 page using ver 17 just to add another Layout grid with text in one box, and a picture in the other.
When published they did not appear side by side, but one on top of the other
After trying various things, I've ended with the text becoming attached to the text in the Layout Grid above, and changing to its colour, and the picture still in the middle :
When I do a Preview, the page displays correctly:
And another weird thing is that if I publish to public_html/test2 instead ofpublic_html that file shows OK like pic 2
BUT if I copy the (correct?) html file from public_html/test 2 to public_html, it THEN looks like pic 1 ???
I'm just baffled

Re: Published page different in preview and host directories
There is no difference between preview and publish. If it looks correct when you preview it but not when you publish it, then it usually means you have not uploaded all the files that were changed which can include .js and .css files. Make sure you are uploading all the files.

Re: Published page different in preview and host directories
Thanks for the response cripy68, but I did publish ALL - and I've tried copying the css files from the public_html/test2 to public_html to no avail
I can't see any .js files in public_html/test2
I tried to search for something relating to updating .js files globally but could not find suitabe search terms to get a result.

Re: Published page different in preview and host directories
After you copied the files did you do a browser hard refresh (control F5)? Do you have a link to the pages?

Re: Published page different in preview and host directories
I always do a page refresh after uploading.
Links: http://www.donjohnson24.co.uk/racenite.html and http://www.donjohnson24.co.uk/test2/racenite.html
Well, after entering these links, I tried them on my Surface Pro (uses Firefox) and an Ipad, and they both appeared correctly!!!!
I also tried using Microsoft Edge on my PC and again the display is OK.
So, it has to be something to do with my PC, the monitor I'm using - which is 48 inch TV - and probably Firefox.
I had a similar problem recently - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=93340&p=466186#p466186 - which was solved by a new installation of Firefox .
However, this time it was solved by clearing the cache of 'Cached Web content'
But I still wonder why this occurs when pages normally update fine.
So it seems I have again been too keen to post a problem here

Re: ***SOLVED***Published page different in preview and host directories
Firefox does seem to have an issue with updating caches. I seem to have made mine better (most of the time) by doing this:

Alan, thanks for the tip, and the reassurance that others have had problems with Firefox.alan_sh wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 12:43 pm Firefox does seem to have an issue with updating caches. I seem to have made mine better (most of the time) by doing this:

However, I think I shall go back to using Chrome. I possibly think I changed because at the time music files played by default when a page was accessed.
