The index page I had been running on my site had been up and running fine for the past six months. Suddenly, after an update, the page began displaying in a disorganised manner. First the graphics were all over the screen and basically it looked a mess. So I checked the preview and that had also gone strange as well, although in the build mode it looked fine. Prior to uploading, the preview looked ok. I then ran an AV scan and that shopwed no problems..
Thinking it may have been something in one of the two scripts I had there, I disabled (removed) them, saved and published it, then previewed it and no change was noted. The next step I took was to build a new page, not using anything from the old page, and built a duplicate index page, the old one was deleted and index.html and css were removed. During the rebuilding of the page everything worked fine, I checked at each stage to make sure it appeared ok, placed the stats script back and checked, still no problem, then the cookie script again nothing went wrong in the preview. I then published the file tying it all together. As soon as I published it, the fault returned.
So I went through the whole process again and this time published from the first step and that's where it all went wrong. The strange thing is the rest of the site remained untouched, only the index page has been affected. On the second attempt I had the page and graphics and nothing else. Has anyone have any idea why or what is happening?

Re: help! Page display not working
There is no difference between previewing and publishing. If your site looks good during preview but not when published then it means you are missing files on the server or didn't upload all the updated files. Also, make sure you do a hard refresh of your site after upload (control - F5) to make sure it completely reloads all the pages. Do you have a link to the page?
Re: help! Page display not working
I had already done this and even contacted the hosting site as well to see if there were ny problems there. I physically compared all the files in my own directory against those on the server along with the date and they all matched. It seems that no matter what I do, it does not stop this odd display. I think my next m,ove is to remove the whole program along with any reg files and put a fresh copy back in and see if that makes a difference. As I said it has not affected any of the sites pages at all only this ione and on top of this, it had not been altered in any way before I updated. The page has been removed from the site for obvious reasons but I can put it back up as a different page if you want to take a look

This is a very wilde guess, and I'm not a programmer, but maybe you are using a different jQuery version (Page Properties)?

Re: help! Page display not working
Unfortunately no, I had removed all the scripts fromthe page during the period in trying to find out what was causing it. It now seems for some reason, the graphic I had on the page during the last six months or maybe less, has been the culprit,. as soon as that was removed, things went back to normal but just why it decided to cause a problem, i'm not sure. I shall try another and see what happens.
Re: help! Page display not working
What was the filename of the problematic picture?

Re: help! Page display not working
The problem you mentioned I had it accidentally and realized that it was because of some custom script which effected the body tag. Other than that you can clear the browser cache and if you still want to test it then use localhost wamp server or xampp to see how it shows there. Just maybe it can be a server sided issue but I think it is not. One more Idea is You can download the previous version of wwb and check if it works there, still better to keep things double checked when testing.
One more thing is that without seeing the website hard to tell what happened.

Re: help! Page display not working
Thanks for taking the time to reply but I think I have found the problem but not the cure. For some strange reason the image I was using will not display as a background, but when placed as an image, it can be seen. However to make matters even more puzzling, it worked fine until Friday evening (25th) and following an update, during which the index page was not altered in any way, it suddenly decided to run amok!!
At any rate, for the moment, I have removed it as a background, done a workround for the index, and am looking further into it. If I cannot find a reason after trying some other images, I will try a full re-install, deleting all registry files etc and see if that works. It may be just possible that there is some corruption in the program caused by who knows what, and a re-install may possibly fix it. We shall see. As a matter of interest, I scanned everything that I have used as well as all 4 drives so a virus/trojan whatever, is not at fault.
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond.

Re: help! Page display not working
It is more likely that there is problem with the filename.
Your webhost may have changed on the server so it no longer works.

Re: help! Page display not working
Possibky you are right, I was using a .PNG before it went haywire and perhaps that was what may have caused it. I have exchanged it for a .JPG file (same filename) and it is causing no problems at all. I tried this with several other .PNG and none would work as a background image properly, they may stay there for a while but when you come back to them at a later date, they end up looking strange. .JPG seems to be the favourite for background images. I am not sure whether it is just me but at least I can stop using a work round. The stupid part of it is, the site was not meant to use any graphics to help the sight disabled to get the information they need, this was the only graphic used on a page (apart from small icons and the like).
Once again, thank you to everyone who made their comments, it did help by giving me alternative ideas to try.

29th 19:17 Back again, while the page is displaying ok on the web site, when I review it in Webbuilder, it goes all stupid!! I have done a fresh relaod, rebuilt the page, checked each step and while it looks ok on the page, when previewed after publishing but not uploading it, it just shows all the graphics running down on the left side below each other. This thing is driving me nuts and...it is only the index page. I suppose I should be thankful that it is displaying properlty on the site but if I need to change it at any time in the future, I am going to have problems.
